Following a brief break, the text messages that consisted of threats and mean insults resumed in September 2021 and continued to be sent for the next 15 months.<\/p>\n<p>The texts targeted at Lauryn quickly created cause for concern, with parents and school officials turning to law enforcement for help.<\/p>\n<p>Officers eventually discovered that Lauryn\u2019s mother, <strong>Kendra Licari<\/strong>, was behind the messages. After Kendra was arrested and charged with multiple counts of stalking and using a computer to commit a crime, she pleaded guilty to two counts of stalking a minor. She was sentenced to 19 months to 5 years in prison, and she was released in August 2024.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeandstylemag.com\/posts\/tracee-ellis-ross-house-was-burglarized-100k-worth-of-items-stolen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jenny Han Addresses \u2018Filler Episode\u2019 Criticism In \u2018The Summer I Turned Pretty\u2019 Season 3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s remorseful that she has severely altered her relationship with her daughter in most likely a negative way,\u201d Borgman told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/tudum\/articles\/unknown-number-the-high-school-catfish-where-are-lauryn-kendra-licari-now\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Netflix\u2019s Tudum<\/a> about Kendra, who hoped to have a relationship with Lauryn following her release from prison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, will they have a relationship? Will they get through this? I don\u2019t know. There will probably be some kind of relationship. Will it be the same? Absolutely not. There\u2019s no way it can be the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kendra participated in the documentary, which was finishing up filming upon her release. And that is just so heartbreaking to me \u2026 That\u2019s when you see Lauryn understand that her family\u2019s never going to be the same again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Borgman also looked back on Lauryn\u2019s attitude about the situation while filming the documentary. \u201cThe first time we sat down with Lauryn was in the spring of 2023 \u2026 and she at the time loved her mom. She just wanted her mom back in her life,\u201d Borgman recalled of Lauryn, who is now 18.<\/p>\n<p>However, she noted that Lauryn \u201cwanted to approach the relationship with more caution\u201d after Kendra was released.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s done a lot of pretty critical thinking, especially between that time and now \u2026 These years are such critical years for young people.\u201d Borgman said of how Lauryn\u2019s stance had changed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeandstylemag.com\/posts\/tracee-ellis-ross-house-was-burglarized-100k-worth-of-items-stolen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jenny Han Addresses \u2018Filler Episode\u2019 Criticism In \u2018The Summer I Turned Pretty\u2019 Season 3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s got the most complicated feelings to deal with. Everybody else can hate Kendra. I don\u2019t think Lauryn can, right? It\u2019s your mom. I mean, how do you navigate that?
