The highly anticipated Michael Jackson<\/a> biopic Michael<\/em> won\u2019t hit theaters for awhile, but it\u2019s already at the center of controversy. Paris Jackson<\/strong><\/a>, the 27-year-old daughter of the late King of Pop, took to her Instagram to slam the upcoming biopic from director Antoine Fuqua<\/strong><\/a> and writer John Logan<\/strong>, calling it \u201cdishonest\u201d and saying she has \u201c0% involvement\u201d in the film.<\/p>\n Jackson\u2019s comments came two days after statements made by Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo<\/strong><\/a>, who plays Joe Jackson, the family patriarch, in the film. On Sunday, while leading the amfAR benefit gala<\/a> for AIDS research during the Venice Film Festival, Domingo told People<\/em> that Paris and her younger brother Prince Jackson<\/strong> were “very supportive of the film.\u201d Paris Jackson, whom Domingo told People<\/em> has been \u201clovely\u201d to him, also performed at the amfAR event. \u201cI\u2019m excited to be here at amfAR tonight with Paris,\u201d he added. \u201cIt feels like that\u2019s a nice way for us to be together.\u201d<\/p>\n The feeling was apparently not mutual. On Tuesday, Paris Jackson responded directly to Domingo\u2019s comments on Instagram, distancing herself from the film. \u201c[Colman], don\u2019t be telling people I was \u2018helpful\u2019 on the set of a movie I had 0% involvement in lol. That is so weird,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n The singer and actress explained that she had seen an early draft of the film and pointed out the parts that she felt were unconvincing: \u201cI read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest [and] didn\u2019t sit right with me and when they didn\u2019t address it I moved on with my life,\u201d she wrote. \u201cNot my monkeys, not my circus. God bless and godspeed.\u201d<\/p>\n In follow-up videos posted to her Instagram story, Jackson expanded on her involvement with the film, saying that<\/a> after she was explicitly informed her suggestions would not be considered,\u00a0\u201cI wasn\u2019t involved at all, aside from giving feedback on the first draft and then getting the feedback that [production] was not actually going to address your notes at all. So I just butted out and left it alone because it\u2019s not my project.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, saying that the filmmakers are \u201cgoing to make whatever they\u2019re going to make\u201d and that the project would most likely make her father\u2019s diehard fans happy. \u201cA big reason why I haven\u2019t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are gonna be happy with it,\u201d Jackson added. \u201cA big section of the film panders to a very specific section of my dad\u2019s fandom that still lives in the fantasy, and they\u2019re gonna be happy with it.\u201d<\/p>\n Michael<\/em> has been in development since 2019 in collaboration with the Jackson family. It stars Domingo, Miles Teller<\/strong>, Nia Long<\/strong>, Kat Graham<\/strong>, and, in his big screen debut, Michael Jackson\u2019s grandson Jafar Jackson<\/strong> as the pop icon. The film has already faced several controversies. According to Puck<\/a>, the production has reportedly been mired in rewrites and reshoots. The entire third act of the film reportedly had to be rewritten and re-shot, allegedly because the first version had overlooked terms of a settlement between the Jackson estate and a child-abuse accuser.<\/p>\n A source close to the production, however, flatly denied rumors that the production was a mess. \u201cThe Michael Jackson biopic is not in total chaos,\u201d they told People<\/em><\/a> in January. \u201cThe inflammatory headlines about the moving halting are simply not true.
