The AI coding tool Warp<\/a> has a plan for making coding agents more comprehensible \u2014 and it looks an awful lot like pair programming.<\/p>\n Today, the company is releasing Warp Code, a new set of features designed to give users more oversight over command-line-based coding agents, with more extensive difference tracking and a clearer view of what the coding agent is doing.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like with these other command-line tools, you\u2019re kind of just crossing your fingers and hoping that what comes out the other end of the agent is something you can actually merge,\u201d says founder Zach Lloyd. With the new features, he wants to \u201cmake a much tighter feedback loop for this agentic style of coding.\u201d<\/p>\n In practical terms, that means you can see exactly what the agent is doing and ask questions along the way. \u201cAs the agent is writing code, you\u2019ll be able to see every little diff that the agent is making,\u201d Lloyd says, \u201cand you\u2019ll have an easy way of commenting on those diffs and adjusting the agent as it goes along.\u201d<\/p>\n The general interface will be familiar to Warp users: a space at the bottom for giving direct instructions to the agent, along with a window for seeing the agent\u2019s responses and a side window where you can see the changes the agent makes step by step. You can change the code by hand if you want to, similar to code-based tools like Cursor, but you can also highlight specific lines to add as context for a request or a question. Perhaps most impressive, Warp\u2019s compiler will automatically troubleshoot any errors that come up when the code compiles.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s about making sure that you understand the code the agent is producing, and making sure that you can edit it and review it,\u201d says Lloyd.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a new approach to the increasingly crowded field of AI-driven programming. Warp is competing with fully non-code tools like Lovable<\/a>, as well as AI-powered code editors like Cursor<\/a> and Windsurf<\/a>. Foundation model companies offer their own competition with command-line tools<\/a> like Anthropic\u2019s Claude Code and OpenAI\u2019s Codex \u2014 even as Warp uses their models to power its own product.<\/p>\n Techcrunch event<\/p>\n \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSan Francisco<\/span> With 600,000 active users and counting, Warp is still a relatively small player in the AI coding race \u2014 but it\u2019s growing fast.
