Channing Tatum thinks film studios are confused<\/p>\n
The 45-year-old actor believes that streaming platforms have transformed the film industry, and Channing thinks movie studios are now unsure of where to turn next.<\/p>\n
He told Variety: “This whole thing is upside down right now. The streamers came in and e****-up the industry a bit \u2014 for good and for bad. The studios are confused; the streamers are confused.”<\/p>\n
Channing explained that streaming companies are paying more money upfront than studios, and the new landscape is having a huge impact on the film industry more broadly.<\/p>\n
Channing – who is one of the biggest names in Hollywood – explained: “You\u2019re incentivising me to go make a subpar movie \u2014 a B script, a programmer that isn\u2019t special.”<\/p>\n
\nThe actor also revealed that White House Down, his 2013 action movie, was a turning point in his own career.<\/p>\n
\nChanning explained that he’s subsequently looked for a wider variety of movie roles.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “With Dear John and The Vow, I became that guy, and Jump Street rescued me out of that. But now I\u2019m the Jump Street guy. After I did White House Down, I told my managers, \u2018If I have a gun in my hand, don\u2019t send it to me.\u2019”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Channing previously admitted to learning on the job early in his career.<\/p>\n
\nThe actor made his film debut in the drama movie Coach Carter back in 2005 – but Channing thinks his acting skills have really developed in recent years.<\/p>\n
\nChanning – who actually worked as a stripper and as a model before finding success in Hollywood – told Extra: “I was getting jobs before I knew what even acting was or how to do it. <\/p>\n
\n“I was doing all, like, kinda on-the-job training in a way, just being like, ‘Okay, just say the line naturally,’ instead of actually understanding what acting is and what this, like, beautiful gift is.” <\/p>\n
\nChanning “learned so much” about acting from actually watching movies.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “I was watching movies and I’ve learned so much from movies, more than I’ve learned from school or anything else or books or anything. <\/p>\n
\n“Movies are probably my longest relationship in my life. I don’t know, I just love them so much. They’re magical.”<\/p>\n
