Bruce Willis<\/strong><\/a>\u2018 wife Emma Heming Willis<\/strong><\/a> is sharing an update on their living arrangements amid his battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).<\/p>\n While speaking with Diane Sawyer<\/strong><\/a> for ABC\u2019s Emma & Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey<\/em> that aired on Tuesday (August 26), Emma<\/strong>, 47, explained why the 70-year-old Die Hard <\/em>actor no longer lives in the same home as her and their two daughters, Mabel<\/strong>, 13, and Evelyn<\/strong>, 11.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>Bruce<\/strong> now lives in a single-story home with his round-the-clock caregivers.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was one of the hardest decisions that I\u2019ve had to make so far,\u201d Emma<\/strong> shared. \u201cBut I knew, first and foremost, Bruce would want that for our daughters. He would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs.\u201d<\/p>\n Emma<\/strong> went on to emphasize that she and their daughters are \u201cthere a lot\u201d to be with Bruce<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s our second home, so the girls have their things there,\u201d Emma<\/strong> shared. \u201cIt is a house that is filled with love and warmth and care and laughter. It\u2019s been beautiful to see that\u2014to see how many of Bruce\u2019s friends continue to show up for him. They bring in life and fun.\u201d<\/p>\n While the family has been able to make these new living arrangements work, Emma<\/strong> admitted that that when Bruce<\/strong> was first diagnosed with FTD, it took a major toll on her and their kids.<\/p>\n \u201cI felt like what we were going through as a family, what Bruce was going through, was so singular,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI was definitely worried about sleeping and just making sure our house was secure. You have to think about your stove. You have to think about your freezer, refrigerator, the doors.\u201d<\/p>\n Emma<\/strong> also noted that loud sounds are sometimes triggering for patients with FTD, so she decided to stop having playdates and sleepovers at their home.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t know if parents would feel comfortable leaving their child at our home,\u201d Emma <\/strong>explained. \u201cNot only was I isolated, I isolated our whole family. The girls were isolated, too, and that was by design. I was doing that. That was a hard time. That was a really hard time.\u201d<\/p>\n Also in the interview, Emma<\/strong> shared that she has found gratitude in the small things amid Bruce<\/strong>\u2018s FTD battle.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen we are with him, he lights up,\u201d Emma<\/strong> said. \u201cHe\u2019s holding our hands, we\u2019re kissing him. We\u2019re hugging him. He is reciprocating. He is into it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s all I need,\u201d she added. \u201cI don\u2019t need him to know that I am his wife, we were married on this day. I don\u2019t need any of that. I just want to feel that I have a connection with him, and I do.\u201d<\/p>\n Emma<\/strong> also shared an update on how Bruce <\/strong>is doing health-wise<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
