Todd Chrisley<\/a><\/span><\/strong> is certain he\u2019s a changed man after serving prison time for a crime he vehemently says he didn\u2019t commit.<\/p>\n \u201cWe read social media comments. We see the articles that are written,\u201d Todd, 56, exclusively shared with Us Weekly<\/em> before The Chrisleys: Back to Reality<\/i><\/a> premieres on Lifetime Monday, September 1. \u201cPeople saying, \u2018Well, Todd doesn\u2019t look like he\u2019s ever gone to prison.\u2019 Well, in another life, I would have been like, to the kids or to Julie, \u2018OK, great. So they wrote a positive article about how I looked.\u2019 So, I mean, that\u2019s a good thing.\u201d<\/p>\n These days, Todd doesn\u2019t understand why some people are more obsessed with the way he looks rather than other more important issues.<\/p>\n \u201cNow I\u2019m like, \u2018Why are we talking about how I look? Why are we not talking about what I went through? All the people that are there that are still going through this today.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n In January 2023, both Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley<\/strong>, reported to prison<\/span><\/a> to serve a combined 19-year sentence after being found guilty<\/span><\/a> on bank fraud and tax evasion charges. (Both parties have maintained their innocence.)<\/p>\n On May 27, Todd and Julie, 52, were pardoned by President Donald Trump<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and were able to return home to their family members, including Savannah<\/strong>, Chase<\/strong>, Grayson<\/strong> and Chloe Chrisley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think you can go through something like this and not change, and it would almost be sad if you didn\u2019t change,\u201d Julie explained to Us<\/i>. \u201cThere\u2019s definitely a time where you see things differently, where you react differently, because you\u2019ve been in a situation where you\u2019ve had to react differently. I think that\u2019s part of the adjustment period back home.\u201d<\/p>\n While both parents remain proud of all their children for how they\u2019ve handled a difficult few years, Todd gave a special shout-out to Savannah, 28, for taking on the role of guardian for Grayson, 19, and Chloe, 12, while her parents were in prison.<\/p>\n \u201cShe took on the responsibility of her younger brother and her younger sister. She ran the finances for the family,\u201d he explained. \u201cShe fought to get her mother and father home every day of her life.\u201d<\/p>\n Savannah also experienced a tragic loss<\/a> in September 2023 when Nic Kerdiles<\/strong> died at the age of 29<\/a> following a motorcycle crash.<\/p>\n Despite her grief, Savannah persevered and never gave up on her dream of bringing her parents home.<\/p>\n \u201cShe lost her former fianc\u00e9 to a motorcycle accident, and who did she grieve to?\u201d Todd asked. \u201cWho was there for her to collapse to? I wasn\u2019t there for her. \u2026 How can she be the same person?\u201d<\/p>\n
