The late David Bowie<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s daughter, Lexi Jones<\/strong><\/a>, opened up about her recent autism diagnosis in a touching post about knowing one\u2019s self.<\/p>\n

\u201cAutism does not have one look, one voice, or one way of showing up,\u201d Jones, 25, wrote via Instagram<\/a> in June. \u201cIt comes in many forms, and a lot of us learn to hide it without even realizing we are doing it. I was recently diagnosed as autistic, and it finally made sense of so much I have carried quietly my whole life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The artist and musician, who is the only child<\/a> of Bowie and his wife, Iman<\/strong><\/a>, noted that it is \u201cvery common\u201d for women to be \u201cdiagnosed later in life.\u201d (Iman, 70, was married to the \u201cStarman\u201d singer for 24 years before Bowie died in January 2016<\/a> at the age of 69 following a battle with liver cancer.)<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are often conditioned to mask, mirror, and internalize,\u201d Jones explained. \u201cThat does not make it any less real. This diagnosis does not change who I am, but it gives me language, clarity, and relief.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThroughout the years, more and more Hollywood A-listers have opened up about their autism diagnosis. In October 2024, Tamra Judge revealed that while in therapy she discovered that she is \u201con the spectrum,\u201d meaning she has a neurological disorder affecting interaction and communication with others, per the National Institute of Mental Health. \u201cWe\u2019re trying to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She added: \u201cI am sharing this because I know I am not the only one, and because stories like this deserve to be seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Autism spectrum disorder is a \u201ccondition related to brain development that affects how people see others and socialize with them,\u201d according to the Mayo Clinic<\/a>. The condition often affects how people communicate with others socially.<\/p>\n

Jones, meanwhile, shared an essay she wrote, \u201cThe Quiet Effort: Neurodivergence Through My Lens,\u201d to better articulate her personal experience before being diagnosed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve spent my whole life feeling like I was different. Like I was trying to keep up with something other people were handed naturally,\u201d she wrote, pointing to \u201csocial interactions, sensory tolerance, emotional regulation and even just basic functioning\u201d as situations she felt ill equipped to handle compared to others.<\/p>\n

Jones told her followers, \u201cI never really felt like I belonged anywhere, and it ultimately left me exhausted from masking.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJessie J is revealing her recent diagnoses of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). The \u201cDo It Like a Dude\u201d singer, 36, got candid with fans about living with these conditions, which she learned she had three months ago. She posted a video of herself singing on stage when she was [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She wrote that part of the \u201cconfusion\u201d she felt about herself came from being able to \u201cemotionally articulate\u201d her feelings, which isn\u2019t always the case with someone who is on the autism spectrum.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know how to express myself<\/a> in a way that makes people feel like I am fine or that I have a strong sense of emotional self-understanding. I am very introspective and emotionally intelligent. But that does not mean I am not struggling,\u201d Jones continued. \u201cIt just means I have spent years analyzing myself and learning how to explain what I feel.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the four-page essay, Jones revealed that she finally got \u201cclarity\u201d about her situation after a \u201clong and exhausting process of questioning myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI recently saw an autism evaluator and received a formal diagnosis confirming that I am autistic. Hearing that out loud did not change who I am,\u201d Jones added. \u201cIt gave me a name to the experience I have spent my whole life trying to understand.\u201d<\/p>\n

She shared, \u201cIt feels validating. Not because it solves everything but because it finally makes sense. The overwhelm, the sensitivity, the masking, the burnout, the constant feeling of being out of sync. Now there is a reason.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star revealed her and Roger Mathews\u2019 son Greyson\u2019s diagnosis in November 2018, which \u201ccaused a lot of tension\u201d in her relationship with her now-ex-husband. \u201cI took the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Jones asserted, \u201cI am still me. But now I get to be me with more understanding, more self-compassion, and less shame.\u201d She pointed out, \u201cIt is not about fitting into a category or chasing a label.\u201d<\/p>\n

She concluded: \u201cIt is about being able to see myself clearly for the first time. And I wanted to share that.\u201d<\/p>\n
