The Institute<\/strong><\/a><\/em> isn\u2019t going anywhere just yet.<\/p>\n MGM+<\/strong><\/a> has officially renewed the thriller series, based on the 2019 Stephen King<\/strong><\/a> novel, for an eight-episode second season.<\/p>\n Season 1 concludes on Sunday night (August 24) at 9 p.m. ET with a finale that brings the characters together for a final confrontation with unimaginable consequences.<\/p>\n The news was revealed directly by Stephen<\/strong> himself, who announced the renewal in a new video message.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Season 1 of The Institute<\/em> debuted earlier this year and ranks as the best premiere ever on the streamer. <\/p>\n The first season starred Ben Barnes<\/strong><\/a>, Mary-Louise Parker<\/strong><\/a>, Joe Freeman<\/strong>, Simone Miller<\/strong><\/a>, Fionn Laird<\/strong><\/a>, Jason Diaz<\/strong>, and Jane Luk<\/strong>. <\/p>\n Here\u2019s the plot: \u201cThe Institute<\/em> follows the story of teen genius Luke Ellis (Freeman<\/strong>), who is kidnapped and awakens at The Institute, a facility full of children who all got there the same way he did and who are all possessed of unusual abilities.
