NCIS: Origins<\/em><\/a> will return for the highly anticipated season 2 in October<\/a> \u2014 but will everyone from the cast be back?<\/p>\n

During the season 1 finale of the NCIS<\/em> prequel<\/a>, the young Leroy Jethro Gibbs\u2019 (Austin Stowell<\/strong><\/a>) part in killing the man who was responsible for the deaths of his wife and daughter was discovered by his partner Lala Dominguez\u2019s (Mariel Molino<\/strong>) friend Macy (Claire Berger<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

While Lala was able to convince Macy to stay quiet, she didn\u2019t appear to get her own happy ending<\/a>. After leaving a meeting with Macy, Lala got in a car accident that could be fatal \u2014 just hours after she nearly kissed Gibbs, which fans were hoping for all season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t promise that [Lala is alive] but we can promise that you\u2019ll get an answer if you come back in season 2,\u201d cocreator David J. North<\/strong> exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> in April. \u201cGoing into this, we wanted to take big swings.\u201d<\/p>\n

He teased, \u201cMariel knew going into this that we were going to take big swings and she was on board for whatever was the best way to make the audience feel something in a truthful way. That\u2019s what we\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Molino has since stayed mostly quiet about Lala\u2019s fate, causing viewers to wonder what other stars will be back for season 2.<\/p>\n

NCIS: Origins<\/em> revolves around Stowell\u2019s portrayal of the young Leroy Jethro Gibbs after getting his start as an NIS agent (it doesn\u2019t become NCIS until years later) in the \u201990s, so his fate in season 2 was never really in question. However, the actor revealed on July 27 that he was officially slipping back into Gibbs mode for filming.<\/p>\n

\u201cGibbs is back in 5 \u2026 4 \u2026 3\u2026 2 \u2026 1 \u2026,\u201d Stowell captioned an Instagram video<\/a> where he transformed into the NIS agent by ditching his blond-tipped hair for the character\u2019s iconic buzzcut.<\/p>\n

Kyle Schmid <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Schmid\u2019s Mike Franks might be mending a broken heart to start season 2 \u2014 his longtime love Tish, (Tonantzin Carmelo<\/strong>), left him toward the end of season 1 \u2014 but his return to the procedural is not in question<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The actor, who is expecting his second baby<\/a> with wife Caity Lotz<\/strong>, was spotted on set in July and August, according to behind-the-scenes<\/a> photos shared by the show\u2019s Instagram page.<\/p>\n

Mariel Molino <\/strong><\/h2>\n

The creators and cast have tried to remain tight-lipped about Molino\u2019s possible return<\/a> as Lala Dominguez following her character\u2019s potentially fatal car crash. Cocreator North exclusively told Us<\/em> in April that fans will get an \u201canswer\u201d during the new season \u2014 but didn\u2019t say when.<\/p>\n

However, Molino seemingly hinted at her goodbye in April, telling TVLine<\/em><\/a>, \u201c[I am going to miss] just our crew. Our crew and our cast, we get along so well. I miss seeing all the familiar faces every morning, joking around, doing this show that we love to do so much. I feel really lucky. I really like these guys, I like my team, I really like my character. So, I do miss them, but it\u2019s definitely nice to have a little break as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans, meanwhile, are convinced that Molino will be back as Lala<\/a> \u2014 at least to start the season \u2014 after the actress posted an Instagram photo of her dog on the same Paramount lot on July 28 where the NCIS: Origins<\/em> cast was filming season 2. The picture featured the same view as a photo uploaded by Schmid from the set as Franks.<\/p>\n

Caleb Foote <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Foote\u2019s fate as Bernard \u201cRandy\u201d Randolf came into question during the season 1 finale after he expressed a desire to get moved to a desk job instead of being in the field due to the level of danger the team always seems to encounter.<\/p>\n

North, however, exclusively told Us<\/em> in April that he\u2019s not going anywhere. \u201cWe can\u2019t get enough Randy. So in season 2, there\u2019s going to be no shortage of Randy,\u201d the cocreator explained. \u201cBut he\u2019s struggling with something. A lot of those agents and police officers do.\u201d<\/p>\n

North added: \u201cIt\u2019s hard when you have a family and it\u2019s a dangerous job. So he\u2019s struggling with that. But we can promise you there\u2019s going to be no shortage of Randy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foote has been part of the behind-the-scenes photos circulating from the set over the summer months.<\/p>\n

Abercrumbie, who plays NIS\u2019 secretary extraordinaire Mary Joe Sullivan, confirmed her return for season 2 via an Instagram photo with Schmid. \u201cMary Jo \u2014 Frank\u2019s \u2014 NCISO \u2014 the team is back 10\/14!!!\u201d she captioned the snap on August 8<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She has since shared videos from her trailer on set and teased videos<\/a> of herself dressed character via social media.<\/p>\n

Diany Rodriguez <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Rodriguez played the only other female NIS agent in the office, Vera Strickland, during season 1. Fans are hopeful that her story line will continue \u2014 as will her work profiling criminals \u2014 during season 2, but she has not publicly announced her return.<\/p>\n

During the season 1 finale, one of Gibbs\u2019 future wives, Diane Sterling<\/a>, played by Kenny, was briefly introduced when the realtor came to meet with the NIS agent to talk about selling his home, which he shared with his late wife, Shannon, and late daughter, Kelly.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo pumped to play Diane Sterling on @ncisverse @cbstv @paramountplus go watch the finale!\u201d Kelly teased via Instagram in April<\/a>, hinting that it\u2019s just the beginning of her time on the show.<\/p>\n
