The Venice Film Festival 2025<\/a> boasts a dream line-up for cinephiles and lovers of glamour. Here’s an in-depth look at this not-to-be-missed event in the 7th art.<\/p>\n This year\u2019s Venice International Film Festival<\/a> will be held from August 27 to September 6 on the island of Lido.<\/p>\n American director Alexander Payne<\/strong>, whose films include Sideways<\/em> and Nebraska<\/em>, will head the jury for its 82nd edition, succeeding Isabelle Huppert<\/strong>. \u201cAlthough I share a filmmaker\u2019s ambivalence about comparing films against one another, I revere the Venice Film Festival\u2019s nearly 100-year history of loudly celebrating film as an art form.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t be more excited,\u201d he said in a statement<\/a>. He will have the honor of opening Mostra 2025 with La Grazia<\/em>, a film that reunites actor Toni Servillo<\/strong> with Anna Ferzetti<\/strong>. No details of the plot have been released except that it is a love story. The director\u2019s last visit to the Lido was a successful one: in 2021, he won the Silver Lion (Grand Prix du Jury) for The Hand of God<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n German director Werner Herzog<\/strong> will receive an honorary award for his impressive career spanning fiction (Fitzcarraldo<\/em>) and documentary (Grizzly Man<\/em>).
