Lauren Manzo<\/strong><\/a> is getting candid about her weight loss journey. The daughter of Real Housewives of New Jersey<\/em> alum Caroline Manzo<\/strong><\/a> is down 80 pounds \u2014 and credits the weight loss drug Mounjaro<\/a> for helping her shed the last 30.<\/p>\n \u201cI went gluten [and] dairy free over a year ago. I had the Lap-Band, I got it removed again. I got up to 208 pounds,\u201d Lauren, 35, explained at Page Six\u2019<\/em>s \u201cVirtual Reali-Tea\u201d podcast taping The Loft in New York City on Thursday, May 18.<\/p>\n Caroline chimed in to note that her daughter was \u201cworking out like an animal [and] eating right\u201d but \u201cshe just could not lose weight.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo I went and I saw a functional medicine doctor. They told me you need to be gluten, dairy, soy free. I couldn\u2019t have cucumbers, eggs, potatoes, anything like that for months. And I\u2019ve been gluten and dairy free for over a year now. I lost 50 pounds. I couldn\u2019t lose any more,\u201d Lauren continued. \u201cAnd my pharmacist was like, \u2018Well, I heard Mounjaro works,\u2019 and I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019ll do anything.\u2019 \u2026 Since February I lost 30 pounds from Mounjaro. And I get it \u2014 people don\u2019t like it, people don\u2019t applaud it, people aren\u2019t whatever, but it\u2019s a shot in your stomach once a week, it\u2019s the same as Ozempic. And honestly, I really do believe that obesity and things like that \u2014 they are a major issue with people \u2014 it is causing mental health issues for me. You guys have seen the struggle with this since I\u2019m 20 years old, and it\u2019s been really hard for me.\u201d<\/p>\n Bravo viewers followed the Manzo family on the first five seasons of RHONJ<\/em>, which premiered in 2009. Caroline, husband Albert Manzo<\/strong><\/a>, Lauren and the couple\u2019s sons<\/a>, Albie<\/strong> and Chris<\/strong><\/a>, starred on spinoff series Manzo\u2019d with Children<\/em><\/a> from 2014 to 2016.<\/p>\n \u201cI understand that people that are prediabetic or that are diabetic do need this, but I also do believe that [the Ozempic trend has] helped people [with food issues too],\u201d Lauren said on Thursday. \u201cI mean, I\u2019m not gonna lie, I feel like there have been times that I\u2019ve been on the brink of an eating disorder or had issues myself. And this is the one thing \u2014 even above weight loss surgery \u2014 that has helped me a lot and cured me and mentally made me so much better. And I\u2019m really grateful for it.\u201d<\/p>\n Lauren added that it\u2019s \u201csad\u201d for people who are \u201calready skinny\u201d to be turning to the drug for weight loss, adding that she had been hospitalized for anxiety and depression in the past and suffers from high blood pressure.<\/p>\n \u201cShe had the Lap-Band \u2014 we had to have an emergency surgery because her stomach was all twisted,\u201d Caroline recalled. \u201cThen she goes and gets the sleeve, which I was so against because she\u2019s got half a stomach now. And I\u2019m like, \u2018Don\u2019t do the surgery.\u2019 \u2026 Begged her not to do surgery. [Said], \u2018There\u2019s something hormonal going on. Something\u2019s wrong with your body.\u2019 \u2026 I have never seen anybody work so hard to try and be healthy than this kid.\u201d<\/p>\n While several Jersey Housewives have spoken about Ozempic \u2014 Dolores Catania<\/strong><\/a> is also on Mounjaro and Margaret Josephs<\/strong><\/a> dropped 22 pounds on weekly injections of a GLP-1 agonist \u2014 Caroline credited \u201cwalking\u201d for how she achieved her thinner frame<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s lot of lids for a lot of jars. Just go and be you,\u201d she noted on her YouTube series, Food, Love and Chaos With Caroline Manzo,<\/em> last month. \u201cI am afraid of [injectables like Botox]. For one moment I don\u2019t believe that any of that is good for you.
