PAOLO GRAZIOSI\/GETTY IMAGES<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>No airline currently flies between the U.S. and any of those three destinations.<\/p>\n<p>But in recent years, airlines (including Delta) have taken note of how <a href=\"https:\/\/thepointsguy.com\/news\/banner-year-europe-travel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unrelenting the demand has been<\/a> for travel to southern Europe \u2014 including more off-the-beaten-path cities across the Atlantic.<\/p>\n<p>That trend led Delta to launch nonstop service this past summer from New York&#8217;s John F. DADO DANIELA\/GETTY IMAGES<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;The destinations where Delta flies are more than just dots on the map \u2014 they&#8217;re gateways to culture, connection and possibility,&#8221; Paul Baldoni, Delta senior vice president of network planning, said in <a href=\"https:\/\/news.delta.com\/skymiles-members-choose-deltas-newest-island-destination\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a statement<\/a> announcing the news.<\/p>\n<p>The carrier plans to announce the winner within 30 days of when voting closes.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"ibiza-malta-or-sardinia-take-your-pick\" class=\"jsx-2362441780 anchor\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"jsx-2362441780\">Ibiza, Malta or Sardinia &#8230; take your pick!<\/h2>\n<p>What would be your pick?<\/p>\n<p>Each has appeal and novelty \u2014 not to mention hotels you can book on points.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Personally, I&#8217;d love a direct route to Sardinia,&#8221; TPG Senior Travel Editor <a href=\"https:\/\/thepointsguy.com\/author\/lmatthews\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lyndsey Matthews<\/a> offered. &#8220;It has all the delicious cuisine and gorgeous beaches travelers seek on the coasts of mainland Italy, but with way fewer crowds.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Worth noting: Sardinia is <a href=\"https:\/\/marriott.pressarea.com\/en\/news\/02062025\/w-hotels-to-open-the-newest-escape-in-sardinia-this-summer\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">home<\/a> to the brand-new W Sardinia \u2014 Poltu Quatu (part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio).
