Brenda Meeks and Cindy Campbell are making a comeback.<\/p>\n

Regina Hall<\/strong> and Anna Faris<\/strong><\/a> are set to return to the Scary Movie<\/em> universe for the series\u2019 sixth installment, the pair announced on Friday, August 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon \u2014 three men we\u2019d literally die for (in Brenda\u2019s case, again.),\u201d they said in a joint statement.<\/p>\n

Scary Movie 6<\/em> won\u2019t just be a reunion for Hall, 54, and Faris, 48. It will also mark the return of the Wayans Brothers<\/a>, who wrote the first two films, released in 2000 and 2001, respectively. Spoof film extraordinaire Michael Tiddes<\/strong> will direct the movie while Marlon<\/strong>, Shawn<\/strong> and Keenan Ivory Wayans<\/strong> will team up with Rick Alvarez<\/strong> to write the script.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Scream franchise won\u2019t be the same after Melissa Barrera\u2018s firing and Jenna Ortega\u2018s departure ahead of the seventh film. Before the shocking dismissal, Scream became a horror staple spanning decades. The first film, which was released in 1996, focused on Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) as she faced off against numerous killers hiding their identity [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Marlon, 53, first announced in October 2024 that the trio would return to the franchise.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast week i said i had a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT to make well here it is\u2026 WE\u2019RE BACK!!!\u201d he wrote via his social media accounts at the time.<\/p>\n

The first Scary Movie<\/em>, which parodied the Scream franchise, among other \u201890s horror movies<\/a>, was a box office smash, grossing $278 million on a $19 million budget. Its sequels then took aim at horror hits like The Haunting<\/em>, Signs<\/em>, The Ring<\/em> and Mama<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Faris, for her part, credited Scary Movie<\/em> with shaping her career as a comedic actress<\/a> in an interview with Us Weekly<\/em>, published in March.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt\u2019s way-too-tempting to declare that the new Mean Girls movie is so fetch. Except that if high school toaster strudel heiress Gretchen Wieners can\u2019t make \u201cfetch\u201d happen, then neither can a measly movie review. So how about this: Mean Girls \u2014 an adaptation of the Tony-nominated 2018 Broadway musical \u2014 is a delightful confection that [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWhen I got cast in the first Scary Movie<\/em>, I mean, I was shocked. I\u2019d never thought I would be able to make a living as an actor. It felt like the most impractical choice I could make, but I had never done comedy before,\u201d she said. \u201cI was never a comedic person, and now I can\u2019t seem to get out of comedy. And so I think I\u2019ve really embraced and appreciated, and there\u2019s personal liberation that comes with nurturing comedic growth.\u201d<\/p>\n

But that didn\u2019t necessarily mean Faris was always guaranteed to return to the films. She talked about what it would take for her to make a Scary Movie<\/em> comeback in an interview with People<\/em><\/a> published in July 2024.<\/p>\n
