And Just Like That<\/em><\/a>\u2019s series finale marked the end of an era for Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda \u2014 but how did the iconic characters say goodbye?<\/p>\n

The Sex and the City<\/em> spinoff wrapped up its story lines for the trio \u2014 as well as new friends Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker<\/strong>) and Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury<\/strong>) \u2014 during the Thursday, August 14, episode. The end of season 3 began with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker<\/strong><\/a>) adjusting to navigating life on her own after her split from Aidan (John Corbett<\/strong>) and fling with Duncan (Jonathan Cake<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\u201cI may be alone for the rest of my life,\u201d she tells Charlotte (Kristin Davis<\/strong>), who refuses to believe that could be true.<\/p>\n

Carrie goes on to wonder who she\u2019ll be when left to her own devices. \u201cI know I\u2019ve lived alone a lot, but I\u2019ve never lived alone without the thought that I wouldn\u2019t be alone for long,\u201d she explains. \u201cEven when Big died, after the shock and the total devastation, in the back of my mind, I thought, \u2018Aidan. Maybe Aidan.\u2019 And recently, though Duncan clearly told me [he\u2019s] not coming back, I thought, \u2018Maybe.\u2019 But I have to quit thinking, \u2018Maybe a man,\u2019 and start accepting maybe just me. And it\u2019s not a tragedy, it\u2019s a fact \u2026 I just have to start accepting it, full stop.\u201d<\/p>\n

News broke earlier this month that AJLT<\/em> would not return<\/a> for a fourth season, with showrunner Michael Patrick King<\/strong><\/a> claiming he had a feeling season 3 would \u201cbe a wonderful place to stop.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn\u2019t want the word \u2018final\u2019 to overshadow the fun of watching the season,\u201d he wrote in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Carrie takes herself out to lunch at the beginning of the episode, she\u2019s met with an unwelcome visitor in her booth \u2014 a doll. \u201cThey put a boy doll across from any woman eating alone,\u201d she tells her friends afterward. \u201cLunch with a side of shame. Believe me when I tell you it\u2019s true and I survived it yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n

She then references a comment<\/a> made by the editor of her novel which she can\u2019t seem to let go, saying, \u201cApparently not only is it tragic for women to be alone in the past, it\u2019s also an issue in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

After attending a bridal fashion show with Charlotte, Seema and Lisa, Carrie reflects on her marriage to Big (Chris Noth<\/strong>), saying that it felt right to settle down because she was finally \u201cchosen.\u201d Eventually, she comes to accept that she might \u201cbe alone for the rest of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following a mess of a Thanksgiving at Miranda\u2019s apartment, Carrie returns to her townhouse in Gramercy Park with a pie in hand. She powers up the karaoke machine left in her living room from a party and plays a song while admiring her new home and eating spoonfuls of dessert without shame.<\/p>\n

Carrie later returns to the draft of her novel and deletes the epilogue<\/a> she was working on. Instead, she writes, \u201cThe woman realized she was not alone. She was on her own.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miranda catches up with her ex-husband, Steve (David Eigenberg<\/strong>), over dinner before Thanksgiving, still reeling from the news<\/a> that their son, Brady (Niall Cunningham<\/strong>), is having a baby with a girl he hooked up with \u201cmaybe twice,\u201d in his words. Steve asks what the girl, Mia (Ella Stiller<\/strong>), is like.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow can I put this nicely?\u201d Miranda wonders. \u201cI\u2019m afraid she might be an idiot. A vengeful idiot who texted Brady and told him I came and violated her aura. Brady told her I was bipolar, so now, he\u2019s not speaking to me either. \u2026 Babies having babies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Steve admits he shouldn\u2019t have \u201cblown up\u201d at Brady about the situation, promising Miranda that they\u2019ll \u201cfigure it out\u201d as a family. \u201cThere\u2019s no way our grandkid is not gonna know us,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Sex and the City\u00a0wrapped in 2007 with main characters Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) finding their respective happily ever after with Mr. Big (Chris Noth), Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler) and [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Baby drama aside, Miranda fears her partner, Joy (Dolly Wells<\/strong>), is lying about having to miss Thanksgiving dinner because one of her dogs is sick, instead assuming that Joy was put off by the \u201chuge fight\u201d she had with Brady about inviting Mia to celebrate with them. Carrie encourages Miranda to call Joy, and when she does, she learns the dog\u2019s crisis wasn\u2019t just an excuse.<\/p>\n

While Brady is cooking, Miranda goes to meet Joy at the clinic, leaving Carrie to welcome Mia and her eccentric friends, one of whom is named Epcot (yes, like the Disney park \u2014 a joke which is repeated several times).<\/p>\n

When Joy sees Miranda at the clinic, she gets emotional \u2014 but don\u2019t worry, the dog is fine. Less fine, however, is the Thanksgiving turkey. Miranda\u2019s guests get by on the sides and a cheese plate, but once they all leave, Miranda is left to clean up a big mess. (Mia\u2019s friend Epcot blew up the bathroom, and for some reason, a significant amount of screentime was devoted to the \u201cplumbing mishap.\u201d)<\/p>\n

As Miranda scrubs the bathroom floor, she\u2019s surprised to see Joy in the doorway. \u201cYou spent the holiday with my family, I can spend it with yours,\u201d she tells Miranda.<\/p>\n

Charlotte York Goldenblatt<\/h2>\n

While attending the bridal fashion show, Charlotte and Lisa get honest about how their marriages have changed through the years. Charlotte admits that her husband, Harry (Evan Handler<\/strong>), \u201cdevastated our love life isn\u2019t what it was\u201d in the wake of his cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n

The tides abruptly turn when Charlotte is back home prepping for Thanksgiving dinner. Harry comes into the kitchen and announces he\u2019s \u201chard,\u201d so they run off to the bedroom.<\/p>\n

Later on, Charlotte drops by Miranda\u2019s place to deliver stuffing, forgetting she invited a potential suitor for Carrie. Mark Kasabian (Victor Garber<\/strong>) is happy to keep Carrie company, but Carrie is less thrilled.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just hated the fact that you think there\u2019s no man out there [for you],\u201d Charlotte tells her friend. \u201cThere is a man. \u2026 He has a plane!\u201d<\/p>\n

Still working on her docuseries, Lisa gets a message from Marion\u2019s friend at the Obamas\u2019 production company, who says that while Michelle \u201cis too well-known to be a subject\u201d in the project, the former first lady might \u201cconsider narrating.\u201d<\/p>\n

Overwhelmed, Lisa hugs handsome editor Marion (Mehcad Brooks<\/strong>), who says they should celebrate over dinner. Despite her \u201cwork crush,\u201d<\/a> Lisa says no.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t go for a drink or for dinner or go anywhere outside of this edit bay,\u201d she explains. \u201cThis has to be about work. Just work. And we have to reel whatever this is back in. It has to be about work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marion agrees, saying that being anything more than colleagues would \u201cruin everything for both of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the fashion show, Lisa reflects on the ups and downs that come with making a lifelong commitment<\/a> like marriage. \u201cSomeone needs to tell these sweet, unsuspecting girls that marriage is about way more than the gorgeous dress,\u201d she says while watching the models. \u201cIt\u2019s about confusion, not knowing how to help and holding your tongue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Back at home, Lisa reminds her husband, Herbert (Chris Jackson<\/strong>), that she\u2019ll always be there for him, until death do them part.<\/p>\n

The mogul continues to get closer with Carrie\u2019s hot landscaper Adam (Logan Marshall-Green<\/strong>), but she\u2019s put off by his opinion that weddings are \u201cridiculous\u201d and a \u201cwaste of time.\u201d<\/p>\n
