Film producer Randall Emmett<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s ups and downs are the subject<\/a> of Hulu\u2019s upcoming\u00a0The Randall Scandal: Love, Loathing and Vanderpump\u00a0<\/i>documentary.<\/p>\n ABC News Studios and LA Times Studios launched a joint investigation into the allegations surrounding Emmett\u2019s past behavior<\/a> in a 90-minute documentary, which drops on Hulu in May 2023<\/a>. The\u00a0Midnight in the Switchgrass<\/i>\u2019 director\u2019s ex-fianc\u00e9e, Lala Kent<\/strong><\/a>, even sat down with the filmmakers to discuss the end of their relationship<\/a>. (The twosome, who share daughter Ocean<\/a>, split in 2021 after Emmett\u2019s alleged infidelity<\/a>.)<\/p>\n \u201cHow could I not have been smarter? Like, I beat myself up daily,\u201d the\u00a0Vanderpump Rules<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>personality \u2014 who previously filmed several scenes for the Bravo hit<\/a> with Emmett ahead of their split \u2014 confessed in the May 2023 trailer<\/a> for\u00a0The Randall Scandal<\/i>. \u201cHow is my daughter having to pay for my stupidity<\/a> and me keeping my blinders and not wanting to see red flags?\u201d<\/p>\n The investigative doc further chronicles Emmett\u2019s rise from one of the most successful Hollywood producers<\/a> to the center of controversy. The Furla Oasis founder had been accused of sexual misconduct<\/a> via the\u00a0Los Angeles Times<\/i>\u2019 2022 expos\u00e9, which he has since denied.<\/p>\n Emmett \u2014 who also coparents older daughters London and Rylee<\/a> with ex-wife Ambyr Childers<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 ultimately did not participate in the Hulu program.<\/p>\n \u201cI declined to participate because it very quickly became apparent to me the film was going to be as biased, if not more so, than the article on which it was based,\u201d he told\u00a0Page Six\u00a0<\/i>in a statement ahead of its release<\/a>, claiming interview subjects were \u201cencouraged\u201d to speak negatively about him. \u201cIt\u2019s my understanding numerous people were contacted to participate in this documentary and most declined.\u201d<\/p>\n The\u00a0Randall Scandal\u00a0<\/i>is based on\u00a0The Los Angeles Times<\/i>\u2019 June 2022 investigative article about Emmett\u2019s alleged misconduct<\/a>. The Florida native has since claimed the article included \u201cfictitious\u201d and \u201cgreatly exaggerated\u201d stories<\/a> from disgruntled employees and Kent, with whom he is currently involved in a contentious custody battle<\/a> regarding Ocean\u2019s care.<\/p>\n The\u00a0Los Angeles Times\u00a0<\/i>later told\u00a0Us Weekly\u00a0<\/i>in a statement that they stand \u201cbehind its reporting\u201d and reporters Amy Kaufman<\/strong> and Meg James<\/strong> had \u201creviewed hundreds of court filings and Emmett\u2019s internal company records\u201d as well as interviewed dozens of his former associates<\/a>. Their statement added: \u201cIf Emmett would like to dispute any of the facts in our reporting or the information that Kaufman and James share in the documentary, we welcome him to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n
