The 59-year-old Curb Your Enthusiasm star spoke about her marriage to the politician, 71, in the wake of reports that he had engaged in a sext-based relationship with journalist Olivia Nuzzi, 31, during his transition to MAGA politics.<\/p>\n
She told The Wall Street Journal about the story: \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s any point to going through every rumour and headline to try to defend or explain it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Olivia was placed on leave by New York magazine on 19 September, 2024, after the publication said she had \u201cengaged in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign,\u201d widely reported to be Robert. <\/p>\n
Cheryl indicated that the scandal, though public, has not derailed their marriage. <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cBobby and I talk about everything, so that\u2019s how we move through everything, and we\u2019re really good friends, and we trust each other.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe actress also noted that her upcoming memoir, Unscripted, will present their relationship in a positive light. <\/p>\n
\nShe said about the book\u2019s contents on their relationship: \u201cOne would deduce that we love each other and are still married and whatever we\u2019ve been through is behind us.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nCheryl has faced criticism for standing by her husband after he left the Democratic Party, ran for president as an independent, and aligned with President Donald Trump, while also becoming a prominent anti-vaxxer. <\/p>\n
\nShe said she was surprised by the intensity of the public reaction, adding: \u201cAt first, you\u2019re thinking, \u2018Wow. Why are they so angry or disappointed?\u2019 <\/p>\n
\n\u201cSome people can\u2019t even, I don\u2019t know, they can\u2019t even talk about it. It\u2019s really rather strange, actually.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nCheryl has previously called out her husband for controversial statements, including a January 2022 remark comparing vaccine mandates to the restrictions faced by Holocaust victim Anne Frank, which she deemed \u201creprehensible and insensitive\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nRobert has also commented on public scrutiny, saying: \u201cThere is no end, and if you get caught into responding to it then it drags you into low vibrations, and the trick is to try to stay in the high vibrations.\u201d Cheryl added she now supports her husband\u2019s initiative to \u201cMake America Healthy Again\u201d through his role with Trump. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cSomething like that doesn\u2019t worry me or scare me. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI feel very connected to MAHA.\u201d<\/p>\n
