Unless you\u2019re devoted to Love Island<\/em> or And Just Like That\u2026<\/em>\u2014and, let\u2019s face it, if you\u2019re reading this, you probably are\u2014the summer months can feel like a vast desert for TV lovers. So it\u2019s a good thing that the end of the 2025 Emmy season will lead into a raft of intriguing fall premieres. We\u2019ve got stalwart old favorites, like Slow Horses<\/em> and Stranger Things;<\/em> we\u2019ve got shiny new projects, coming from proven talents (hello again, Ken Burns<\/strong> and Vince Gilligan<\/strong>!) and zeitgeisty creators on the cusp of the mainstream (welcome, Rachel Sennott<\/strong> and Tim Robinson<\/strong>\u2014both, incidentally, premiering new comedies on HBO). Read on for more information about the 24 shows we\u2019re most looking forward to, premiering between Labor Day and December 31.<\/p>\n

Wednesday,<\/em> season two, part two<\/h2>\n

Wednesday<\/em> became Netflix\u2019s most popular English-language show of all time<\/a> following its November 2022 debut, and its sophomore season<\/a> is finally upon us. Jenna Ortega<\/strong><\/a> reprises her titular role as the angsty adolescent daughter of the delightfully macabre Addams family. In season two, she\u2019s reunited with mother Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones<\/strong>), father Gomez (Luis Guzm\u00e1n<\/strong>), and roommate Enid (Emma Myers<\/strong>), as well as Fred Armisen<\/strong>\u2019s Uncle Fester<\/a>. And a few new faces have come to populate Wednesday\u2019s gothic orbit, including Christopher Lloyd,<\/strong> Haley Joel Osment, Joanna Lumley,<\/strong> and reportedly<\/a> even Lady Gaga<\/strong> herself. (Gaga did not appear in the first part<\/a> of season two, which launched in August\u2014so she\u2019s got to be coming in this batch of episodes.) \u2014Savannah Walsh<\/em><\/p>\n

The Paper<\/em><\/h2>\n

Some two decades after the Steve Carell<\/strong>\u2013starring American version of The Office<\/em> debuted\u2014following the show\u2019s success in the UK with original star Ricky Gervais<\/strong>\u2014a third chapter in the series\u2019 story is being told. Don\u2019t call it a reboot\u2014but rather, a new comedy set in the same workplace universe. \u201cThe documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin\u2019s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject,\u201d says Peacock, \u201cwhen they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.\u201d British Independent Film Award nominee Domhnall Gleeson<\/strong> and Sabrina Impacciatore,<\/strong> best known for season two of The White Lotus,<\/em> star in the mockumentary-style project from Michael Koman<\/strong> (SNL, Late Night With Conan O\u2019Brien<\/em>) and Greg Daniels,<\/strong> who developed the American version of The Office.<\/em> \u2014S.W.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mare of Easttown<\/em> creator Brad Ingelsby<\/strong> returns to Delco for another gritty drama shot through with dark humor. This one is about Mark Ruffalo<\/strong>\u2019s Tom, an FBI agent tasked with unmasking a team that\u2019s been robbing drug houses\u2014an operation that, unbeknownst to him, is headed by Tom Pelphrey<\/strong>\u2019s seemingly mild-mannered Robbie. The cat-and-mouse element adds some tension, moving Task<\/em> away from well-trod whodunit territory. And after Ruffalo\u2019s years in Marvel movies, it\u2019s certainly exciting to see him play a real guy again. \u2014Hillary Busis<\/em><\/p>\n

Only Murders in the Building,<\/em> season five<\/h2>\n

Noteworthy cast:<\/strong> Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Ren\u00e9e Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, T\u00e9a Leoni, Keegan-Michael Key<\/p>\n

Once again, Hulu\u2019s cozy murder comedy has drawn an impressive cast of guest stars for its new outing. But after a sojourn in Los Angeles, it\u2019s also getting back to basics. As showrunner John Hoffmann<\/strong> recently told Deadline<\/em><\/a>:<\/em> \u201cWe\u2019re going straight into a New York story that\u2019s happening very much currently. It\u2019s also happening across the country, obviously, but also in the city itself. We\u2019re pulling from the headlines to ask very specific questions about the balance of power in New York and who has that power\u2026. The history of power in New York is pretty colorful, with the old Mob and the new Mob mixing in. What do those two look like, and how do they sit on either side, with our trio in the center of it?\u201d \u2014HB<\/em><\/p>\n

The Girlfriend<\/em><\/h2>\n

Robin Wright<\/strong> is entering Claire Underwood mode again for this adaptation of author Michelle Frances<\/strong>\u2019s psychological thriller, about a wealthy woman who\u2019s convinced her beloved son\u2019s new girlfriend (Olivia Cooke<\/strong>) is lying about her past. Seems like classic streaming-limited-series material in the post\u2013Big Little Lies<\/em> era, with one fun twist: Wright is executive-producing the series and also directing it, in addition to starring on it. \u2014H.B.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Morning Show,<\/em> season four<\/h2>\n

Noteworthy cast:<\/strong> Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Marion Cotillard, Billy Crudup, Karen Pittman<\/p>\n

When last we left embattled TV news anchor Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon<\/strong>), she was turning herself in to the authorities for her role in covering up her brother\u2019s involvement in the January 6 storming of the Capitol. (Y\u2019know, normal morning-news-personality stuff.) Her coworker and frenemy, Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston<\/strong>), was dealing with the fallout from her relationship with a tech zillionaire, played by Jon Hamm.<\/strong> We\u2019re not really sure where season four of Apple\u2019s loopy but engaging current events melodrama will find Bradley and Alex\u2014or newcomer Marion Cotillard<\/strong> as a network exec\u2014but we are eager as ever to find out. At its best, The Morning Show<\/em> is a glossy good time; it may not be the most politically trenchant show on the air, but at least it swings big. \u2014Richard Lawson<\/em><\/p>\n
