Poultry is the name of the game on The Chicken Sisters<\/em><\/a>, but star Lea Thompson<\/strong><\/a> revealed that season 2 is all about the girls \u2014 the good, the bad and the sassy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we have quarrels, but I think it\u2019s kind of us against the world too, at the same time,\u201d Thompson, 64, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Monday, August 4, of the season 2 premise<\/a> for the Hallmark Channel series. \u201cWe learn how to bond together, because we are an odd group.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thompson, who plays Nancy Hillier on the show, noted that her character doesn\u2019t know former chicken restaurant rival Gus Moore (Wendie Malick<\/strong><\/a>) or her daughter Mae Moore (Genevieve Angelson<\/strong><\/a>) \u201cthat well\u201d when the season begins.<\/p>\n

\u201cGus and I used to be enemies,\u201d she reminded fans. \u201cSo, we all bond together and kind of fight against the rest of the world, which is what happens in this season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thompson teased that as the ladies of Mimi\u2019s \u2014 Gus and Mae \u2014 and the women of Frannie\u2019s \u2014 Nancy and her former daughter-in-law, Amanda Moore-Hillier (Schuyler Fisk<\/strong><\/a>) \u2014 team up, it won\u2019t be totally smooth sailing.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of stuff is getting stirred up. And it really gets stirred up at the end,\u201d she revealed to Us<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s really, really fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chicken Sisters<\/em> premiered in 2024<\/a> on Hallmark+ before making its debut on the Hallmark Channel earlier this year. During the first season, based on KJ Dell\u2019Antonia<\/strong>\u2019s novel, two rival chicken restaurants in the fictional town of Merinac compete on a reality show called The Ultimate Kitchen Clash<\/em> to see who is the best.<\/p>\n

In addition to a food rivalry that goes back decades, tensions rise between the two families who owned the eateries. The biggest issue is that Mimi\u2019s owner, Gus\u2019 youngest daughter, Amanda, married Frannie\u2019s owner, Nancy\u2019s son, Frank Jr. (James Kot<\/strong>), creating an even bigger divide between the restaurants.<\/p>\n

During the season 1 finale, Frank Jr. and Amanda called it quits following the end of Ultimate Kitchen Clash<\/em>. After an explosive conclusion to the competition, the four ladies \u2014 Nancy, Amanda, Gus and Mae \u2014 decided to squash their beef and unite to create \u201cThe Chicken Sisters\u201d restaurants housed in Mimi\u2019s and Frannie\u2019s locations.<\/p>\n

Frank Jr., meanwhile, teamed up with a chicken big shot to seemingly open his own place, which Thompson told Us<\/em> will cause issues during season 2.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a really complicated relationship,\u201d Thompson said of Nancy and Frank Jr.\u2019s dynamic moving forward, explaining that Nancy \u201chas to kind of manage it as her only son, while yet trying to keep her business afloat, while he\u2019s trying to compete with hers.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Nancy will have trouble with her son \u2014 and navigating her relationship with Amanda after her split from Frank Jr. \u2014 Thompson shared that love will be in the air.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is some dating that goes on,\u201d Thompson told Us<\/em> of Amanda\u2019s love story after she hooked up with Mimi\u2019s cook Sergio (Ektor Rivera<\/strong>) last season. \u201cThere\u2019s obviously chemistry with Sergio and because now everybody has to work together \u2014 the restaurants are kind of fluid \u2014 so they\u2019ll be in close proximity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress added that Amanda won\u2019t be the only one with romance on her mind thanks to Nancy and her boyfriend, Pastor McGregor (Matthew James Dowden<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s probably only the second guy she\u2019s ever dated or kissed in her whole life,\u201d Thompson said. \u201cAnd so that\u2019s a big, big growth. She finally got over her husband and moved on. \u2026 She takes a big leap, and she learns how to put herself first.\u201d<\/p>\n
