No final bow! Tom Hanks<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 body of work will live on forever in the archives<\/a> \u2014 but will his acting credits stop once he\u2019s dead?<\/p>\n \u201cAnybody can now recreate themselves at any age they are by way of AI [artificial intelligence] or deep fake technology,\u201d Hanks, 66, explained during the Saturday, May 13, episode of the \u201cAdam Buxton<\/a>\u201d podcast. \u201cI could be hit by a bus tomorrow and that\u2019s it, but my performances can go on and on and on.\u201d<\/p>\n The two-time Oscar winner<\/a> noted that there\u2019s a \u201cbona fide possibility right now\u201d that his likeness at any age could be recreated for future projects.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I wanted to, I could get together and pitch a series of seven movies that would star me in them in which I would be 32 years old from now until kingdom come,\u201d the Sleepless in Seattle<\/em><\/a> star said.<\/p>\n Hanks acknowledged that while there would be a general \u201cunderstanding that it\u2019s being done by AI or deep fake, there\u2019ll be nothing to tell you that it\u2019s not me and me alone and it\u2019s going to have some degree of lifelike quality.\u201d<\/p>\n The Toy Story<\/em><\/a> actor is aware that \u201cwithout a doubt\u201d viewers will be able to tell it\u2019s an AI version of the actor, but then asked, \u201cWill they care?\u201d He pointed out: \u201cThere are some people that won\u2019t care, that won\u2019t make that delineation.\u201d<\/p>\n While the Emmy winner<\/a> didn\u2019t reveal whether he really wanted to release new films posthumously, he told listeners that it isn\u2019t that big of a stretch for Hollywood greats to live on forever with the latest technologies.<\/p>\n \u201cThis has always been lingering,\u201d Hanks said. \u201cThe first time we did a movie that had a huge amount of our own data locked in a computer \u2014 literally what we looked like \u2014 was a movie called The Polar Express<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n In the 2004 animated holiday film, the actor had his real-life movements and likeness recorded to make his conductor character lifelike on screen.<\/p>\n \u201cWe saw this coming. We saw that there was going to be this ability in order to take zeros and ones inside a computer and turn it into a face and a character,\u201d the Forrest Gump<\/em> actor<\/a> explained. \u201cNow, that has only grown a billionfold since then and we see it everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this month, the Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece<\/em> author reflected on the joy of making movies and why he continues to do it decade after decade.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I was young, and I\u2019d see some movie \u2026 I\u2019d come out and say, \u2018I can\u2019t imagine a better way of spending two hours than having come see this movie,\u2019\u201d Hanks recalled during a May 9 appearance on CBS Mornings<\/em><\/a>. \u201c[I thought], \u2018My life has actually expanded because I was involved in the story of what these people were [doing].\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
