Selena Gomez<\/strong><\/a> will never forget her first secret session with Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a> (IYKYK).<\/p>\n Gomez, 33, opened up about the early days of her friendship<\/a> with Swift, 35, during the Thursday, August 7, episode of the \u201cTherapuss\u201d podcast<\/a> with host Jake Shane<\/strong>. Gomez said that finding a friend in Swift was the \u201cbest thing\u201d that came from their respective romances with Nick<\/strong> and Joe Jonas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cI was about 15, she was about 18,\u201d the actress recalled. \u201cThat\u2019s when it was the crazy, curly Taylor and she had all these bracelets that went all the way up [her arm].\u201d<\/p>\n Gomez continued: \u201cI believe \u2018Love Story\u2019 was the first song she ever played me and it wasn\u2019t released yet. \u2026 It was in a hotel room and I remember it vividly. It was just, like, one of those songs I instantly heard and thought, \u2018This is one of the most beautiful songs ever.\u2019 So at that age, we became best friends.\u201d<\/p>\n The Disney alum joked that she and Swift \u201cbonded over the breakup, as girls do,\u201d and the rest is history. \u201cWe stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after and here we are now, 16 years later,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Shane \u2014 a certified Swiftie \u2014 couldn\u2019t get over Gomez being one of the first people to hear \u201cLove Story\u201d before it became a megahit. The song appeared on her 2008 album, Fearless<\/em>, which won Album of the Year and Best Country Album at the 2010 Grammy Awards.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was so sweet. She was like, \u2018OK, I\u2019m just gonna play you this song. \u2026 It\u2019s gonna be the first single, I think,’\u201d Gomez recalled. \u201cJust hearing her say those little thoughts and then listening to it \u2026 she is a chameleon. She is incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n Both Gomez and Swift have spoken candidly about their friendship keeping them grounded<\/a> through the years.
