This year marks the 32nd anniversary of the original <\/span>Home Alone<\/span><\/i><\/a> hitting theaters in 1990. Even so, it still remains perhaps one of the most beloved Christmas movies of all time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n One person who doesn\u2019t like rewatching the film every Christmas? Kevin McAllister himself, Macaulay Culkin<\/a>.<\/strong> \u201cI don\u2019t really watch them all that often,\u201d he admitted to Ellen Degeneres<\/strong> in 2018. <\/a>\u201cIt\u2019s background radiation at Christmastime. I\u2019ve had people who want to sit down and watch it with me, which is both flattering and creepy.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m remembering that day on set, like, how I was hiding my Pepsi behind the couch,\u201d he added. \u201cI can\u2019t watch it the same way other people can.\u201d He says that even three decades later, people still come up and ask him to do the infamous scream. His answer? \u201cNo. Been there, done that already. I\u2019m 37 now, OK?<\/a> OK, mom?\u201d<\/p>\n Another star from the film, Catherine O\u2019Hara<\/strong>, is more than happy to relive iconic moments from the film. In fact, she recreated one of her most famous scenes in December 2020 when she made a TikTok acting out the moment in which Kevin\u2019s mom, Kate McAllister, realized he was missing alongside a clip from the film. That led fans to realize the same actress who plays Moira on Schitt\u2019s Creek<\/em> was also in the classic holiday film, and she quickly became a trending topic on Twitter thirty years after the film came out.<\/p>\n However, her viral performance almost didn\u2019t happen. In 2020, Home Alone<\/em> cinematographer Julio Macat<\/strong> revealed another actress was first offered the role. \u201cMy wife, Elizabeth Perkins<\/strong>, had a similar situation where she worked on a movie that also was very special,\u201d he told Metro UK<\/a>. \u201cYou know the movie, Big<\/em>? She was the girlfriend, Susan. We hadn\u2019t met yet, and she filmed that movie almost a year before Home Alone.<\/em><\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n \u201c[Home Alone<\/em> writer] John Hughes<\/strong> asked her to be the Catherine O\u2019Hara role, and she wasn\u2019t able to do it, she was busy.\u201d It sounds like everything worked out exactly how it was supposed to!<\/p>\n
