It was a film made with love, long nights, and big dreams. But sadly, the executive producer who owned the rights never intended for it to be released. So it was shelved.<\/p>\n
We were devastated. Over time, bootleg copies of our film spread through conventions, fan circles, and even YouTube, slowly building a passionate following. Then, in 2015, the documentary “Doomed! The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s The Fantastic Four,” created by Marty Langford, brought our story into the spotlight and helped grow our community even further.<\/p>\n
In recent years, Joseph Culp (who played Dr. Doom) helped lead a movement to finally get our film officially released. I proudly signed the petition and joined the fight, like so many of you. But still, nothing. No release. No acknowledgment. Three big-budget Fantastic Four films came and went\u2026 and not one recognized our version. It was as if we never existed. Until now. Last April, out of the blue, I received a text from Rebecca Staab, the incredible actress who played Sue Storm, saying that Grant Curtis, one of the producers from Marvel Studios, would be calling me. As I read her message, my brain started spinning. “Wait… they’re doing a new F4 film\u2026 and Marvel wants to talk to me?!”<\/p>\n
Then my phone rang.<\/p>\n
It was Grant, calling from London. He told me what happened to our film was not right. He said they’d watched it several times and truly understood what it was about: family. He loved the dynamic between the characters, especially between me (Ben Grimm) and Alex Hyde-White (Reed Richards), and said he hoped to honor that spirit in the new film. Then he said something I’ll never forget: They wanted our Fantastic Four family in their movie. My mind was blown.<\/p>\n
I also want to give a special “Thank you!” to Rebecca Staab, who set everything in motion. She and her manager reached out to Marvel’s casting team, Sarah Finn and Molly Doyle, and pitched the idea that got the ball rolling.<\/p>\n
\nThis might sound dramatic, but I think this is one of the most important photos in Marvel Comics history.<\/p>\n
