President Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a> is addressing speculation he had something to do with the cancellation of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody is saying that I was solely responsible for the firing of Stephen Colbert<\/strong><\/a> from CBS, Late Night. That is not true!\u201d Trump, 79, wrote via his Truth Social<\/a> account on Tuesday, July 29.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reason he was fired was a pure lack of TALENT, and the fact that this deficiency was costing CBS $50 Million Dollars a year in losses \u2014 And it was only going to get WORSE!\u201d Trump claimed.<\/p>\n

According to the president, he suspects that Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/em> and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/em> will be next on the chopping block.<\/p>\n

\u201cNext up will be an even less talented Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong>, and then, a weak, and very insecure, Jimmy Fallon<\/strong>. The only real question is, who will go first?\u201d Trump shared.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cShow Biz and Television is a very simple business. If you get Ratings, you can say or do anything. If you don\u2019t, you always become a victim. Colbert became a victim to himself, the other two will follow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Colbert, 61, broke the news of The Late Show<\/em>\u2019s cancellation<\/a> during the July 17 taping of his late-night talk show.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore we start the show I want to let you know something that I found out just last night,\u201d he said. \u201cNext year will be our last season, the network [CBS] will be ending The Late Show<\/em> in May.\u201d<\/p>\n

His talent was even less than his ratings,\u201d Trump, 79, shared via his Truth Social page on Friday, July 18, just a day after Colbert, 61, announced his show\u2019s cancellation. Well, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As the studio audience booed, the comedian said, \u201cI share your feelings. It\u2019s not just the end of our show, but it\u2019s the end of The Late Show<\/em> on CBS. I\u2019m not being replaced. This is all just going away. I do want to say that the folks at CBS have been great partners \u2026 And I\u2019m grateful to the audience, you, who have joined us every night, in here, out there, and all around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

While CBS said the cancellation was \u201cpurely a financial decision,\u201d some people \u2014 including Colbert \u2014 have questioned whether it was politically motivated. Colbert frequently criticizes Trump on the show, including taking aim at CBS parent company Paramount\u2019s $16 million settlement<\/a> with Trump over a lawsuit brought by the president. Colbert criticized the deal just days before his show was canceled.<\/p>\n

Last week, Trump\u2019s Federal Communications Commission approved<\/a> an $8 billion merger between Paramount and Skydance Media, prompting speculation over whether Colbert\u2019s cancellation was a bargaining chip to help the deal through.<\/p>\n
