Malcolm-Jamal Warner<\/strong><\/a> has been honored by his friends and former colleagues in a live podcast almost a week after his death<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A live episode of his \u201cNot All Hood\u201d podcast<\/a> dropped on Friday, July 25 and was led by his cohost Candace Kelley<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n

Actress Jessica Miesel<\/strong>, who worked alongside Warner in The Resident,<\/em> paid tribute while appearing on the podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so struck by his endless curiosity and his warmth and his elegance, but mainly his ability to make me and others feel like an equal. I never felt like he was looking down at anybody else,\u201d Miesel said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMalcolm-Jamal Warner emailed his \u201cNot All Hood\u201d podcast cohost, Candace Kelley,\u00a0shortly before his sudden death at age 54. \u201cI spoke to him on Friday before he left,\u201d Kelley exclusively told Us Weekly on Wednesday, July 23. \u201cHe wrote me this long, five-paragraph email from the plane, which is so strange. I\u2019m like, \u2018[You\u2019re going to] [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Miesel added that adored his laugh and said that his humor contributed to an enjoyable working experience with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis laugh was just one of my favorite sounds in the whole world, and he was the king of adding a button to the end of a scene, you know even doing a serious surgery scene and he would add something completely silly to the end of it,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Kelley gave credit to the late actor for pushing for diverse portrayals of Black characters on-screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe really was on a mission to make sure that the tropes about the Black community are not continued,\u201d Kelley recalled. \u201cWe\u2019d have these conversations because all the dramas on TV are about gangs and the street and drugs and kingpins,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut a lot of people don\u2019t know that he often turned down a lot of parts in these types of shows. He\u2019d say, \u2018It\u2019s good writing, but it\u2019s not a good message.\u2019 \u201c<\/p>\n

News broke on July 21 that The Cosby Show<\/em> alum had died at 54<\/a> in Costa Rica. He was survived by his mother, wife and daughter.<\/p>\n

Warner had been attempting to save his 8-year-old daughter<\/a> in the ocean before he drowned, an official confirmed exclusively to Us Weekly<\/em> on Thursday, July 24.<\/p>\n
