Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson<\/strong><\/a> is sharing his memories of working with the late Hulk Hogan<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The wrestler-turned-actor, 53, took to Instagram<\/a> in the early hours of Friday, July 25, to mourn the wrestling icon, with whom he famously shared the ring in a memorable \u201cicon versus icon\u201d match at WWE\u2019s WrestleMania 18<\/em> in 2002.<\/p>\n

\u201cRest in Peace, Terry Bollea aka The Immortal Hulk Hogan \ud83d\udd4a\ufe0f\ud83d\udc90,\u201d Johnson wrote alongside a video recap of his iconic match with Hogan, real name Terry Bollea.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo millions of little kids you were a childhood hero \u2013 myself included. In 1984, I gave you your \u2018HULKSTER\u2019 headband back, in the locker room in Madison Square Garden \u2013 I was the lucky kid caught it when you threw it in the crowd,\u201d Johnson wrote. \u201cYou were wrestling \u2018Mr Wonderful\u2019, Paul Orndorff that night in the main event. You were shocked and so happy after the match because you told me that was your very last headband and if it weren\u2019t for me, you\u2019d have no way of getting that exact one made again. You promised me that you would get more made and give me a Hulkster headband of my own as a thank you gift.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHulk Hogan has had several ups and downs throughout the years before his death in July 2025. Hogan (real name Terry Gene Bollea) was born in August 1953 in Augusta, Georgia, and began his professional wrestling career in 1977. After joining the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) in 1983, Hogan skyrocketed to fame and became [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He continued, \u201cA month later in Madison Square Garden, you did just that. You kept your word, with a handshake and a \u2018thanks kid\u2019. And that meant the world to that little 12 year old boy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson, a third-generation professional wrestler<\/a> in his own right, stepped into the ring with Hogan back in 2002 after shooting to the top of WWE and becoming one of wrestling\u2019s biggest stars. Like Hogan, he went on to become a movie and television star and is now one of the most famous men in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust 17 years later, and still a kid at the age of 29 years old \u2014 I\u2019m standing in the middle of the ring and facing you \u2013 one of my wrestling heroes in the main event of WRESTLEMANIA,\u201d he recalled. \u201cThe match was to decide who would go down in history, as The Greatest of All Time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson shared, \u201cWhen you kick out of my Rock Bottom finisher \u2013 just listen and FEEL that crowd go ELECTRIC\u2026all for you. I\u2019ve never felt anything like that in my entire wrestling career. It takes two to tango, but that historic crowd reaction was all for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hogan suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida and was pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to the Clearwater Police Department.
