Benedict Cumberbatch<\/strong><\/a> got candid when it came to his exercise routine and \u201chorrific diet\u201d to prepare for his reoccurring role as Marvel\u2019s Doctor Strange.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, the exercise is great,\u201d Cumberbatch, 49, shared during a Tuesday, July 22, episode of the \u201cRuthie\u2019s Table 4\u201d<\/a> podcast. \u201cAnd the end result is that you feel strong and you feel confident \u2014 you hold yourself better. You have stamina through the exercise and the food that makes you last through the gig.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor, who has played Dr. Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since 2016, says even though the exercise and extra food made him feel good at the end of the day, it\u2019s not his favorite thing.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it is horrific. I don\u2019t like it personally,\u201d he explained. \u201cI think it\u2019s horrific eating beyond your appetite. Again, going back to responsibility and resourcefulness and sustainability \u2014 it\u2019s just like, what am I doing? I could feed a family with the amount I\u2019m eating.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDoomsday is coming \u2014 luckily, Marvel has assembled a star-studded lineup for Avengers 5, which is now in production. Robert Downey Jr.\u2018s return was announced last year, but instead of playing Iron Man\/Tony Stark, he\u2019ll play the evil Doctor Doom. Avengers: Doomsday will reunite the actor with some familiar faces as well as some newbies, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cumberbatch went on to say that every time he is preparing for each Marvel movie he has to eat five meals a day on top of \u201ca couple of boiled eggs between those five meals, or some kind of high protein snack, cheese and crackers or almond butter and crackers \u2014 crackers, lots of crackers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although it\u2019s a struggle to exercise and eat such a significant amount of protein, ultimately, Cumberbatch noted that filming the projects is \u201cgreat fun\u201d and he loves it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love it. I love body transformation in my job,\u201d he said. \u201cOn Marvel, it\u2019s a big sand pit. So they\u2019ve got resources. You have someone who can prescribe you what you\u2019re eating, and they can cook [for] you. We had a fantastic chef on the last Doctor Strange<\/em> film.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cumberbatch has appeared as neurosurgeon Stephen Strange in several Marvel films including 2016\u2019s Doctor Strange<\/em>, 2017\u2019s Thor: Ragnarok<\/em>, 2018\u2019s Avengers: Infinity War<\/em>, 2019\u2019s Avengers: Endgame<\/em>, 2021\u2019s Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/em> and 2022\u2019s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Nearly four years after appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/em>, Cumberbatch is set to reprise his role in Avengers: Doomsday<\/em>, which will hit theaters in December 2026. Recently, Marvel boss Kevin Feige<\/strong> gave an update on the status of Avengers: Doomsday<\/em>, noting that they are still finalizing the script even though they are in the process of filming.<\/p>\n
