Rock and roll has lost one of its most iconic voices. Ozzy Osbourne,<\/strong><\/a> legendary frontman of Black Sabbath<\/a> and a pioneer of heavy metal, has died at age 76 following a years-long battle with Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,\u201d his family shared in a statement to Metro<\/em><\/a> on Tuesday, July 22. \u201cHe was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.\u201d His death was later confirmed by the BBC.<\/p>\n The heartbreaking news comes just weeks after Ozzy took the stage for what would be his final performance with Black Sabbath in their hometown of Birmingham, England, on July 5 \u2014 a full-circle moment for the group that helped shape the sound of rock music for decades.<\/p>\n Ozzy\u2019s musical journey began in 1967 when he joined the band Rare Breed with bassist Geezer Butler<\/strong>. After a short-lived run, the band reformed as Black Sabbath with the additions of guitarist Tony Iommi<\/strong> and drummer Bill Ward<\/strong>. Known for their dark lyrics and heavy riffs, the band catapulted to fame and helped define the heavy metal genre. Despite a brief split in 1978, Osbourne rejoined the band before being fired in 1979 due to his struggles with drugs and alcohol. He later reunited with Black Sabbath for their final album, 13<\/em>, and their farewell tour, which concluded in 2017.<\/p>\n While his music career cemented him as a rock god, Ozzy also made a name for himself in reality TV. Alongside his wife Sharon Osbourne<\/strong><\/a>, he starred in The Osbournes, the hit MTV series that aired from 2002 to 2005 and offered an unfiltered look at their home life with kids Kelly<\/strong><\/a> and Jack<\/strong><\/a>. The couple, who wed in 1982, also share daughter Aimee<\/strong>, while Ozzy had three children \u2014 Elliot<\/strong>, Louis<\/strong> and Jessica<\/strong> \u2014 from his previous marriage to Thelma Riley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Ozzy\u2019s later years were marked by health struggles.
