Author Carley Fortune<\/strong>\u2019s bestselling Young Adult romance novel Every Summer After<\/em> is being turned into a streaming TV series by Prime Video.<\/p>\n

Amazon\u2019s streamer announced in July 2025 that it was partnering with Sex and the City<\/em><\/a> producer Amy B. Harris<\/strong> on the upcoming literary adaptation, with Fortune on board too as an executive producer. According to Prime Video, Fortune\u2019s Every Summer After<\/em> sold more than 1 million copies and spent 14 weeks on the New York Times<\/em> Bestseller list.<\/p>\n

The retitled Every Year Afte<\/em>r takes place over the course of six years in the gorgeous lakeside town of Barry\u2019s Bay, as two lifelong friends \u2014 Percy and Sam \u2014 explore whether it\u2019s possible for best friends to become one another\u2019s soulmate. Saltburn<\/em>\u2019s Sadie Soverall<\/strong> has been cast as Percy and Matt Cornett<\/strong> (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series<\/em><\/a>) will play Sam.<\/p>\n

Prime Video has already confirmed that Every Year After<\/em> will launch simultaneously worldwide, though there\u2019s no official premiere date quite yet.<\/p>\n

As mentioned, Soverall and Cornett landed the coveted leading roles in Every Year After<\/em> as Percy and Sam. Soverall previously appeared in Fate: The Winx Saga<\/em> as Beatrix and starred opposite Nicolas Cage<\/strong> in the post-apocalyptic horror movie Arcadian<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Cornett has a background in Disney projects, having played theater-loving jock E.J. Caswell in the High School Musical<\/em> TV spinoff and A-Lan in Disney+ movie Zombies 3<\/em>. He shared the screen with Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/a>\u2019s Chloe Fineman<\/strong> in the Hulu sex comedy Summer of 69<\/em> in 2025, in addition to making recurring appearances in Life in Pieces<\/em> and The Goldbergs<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Joining Soverall and Cornett in Every Year After<\/em> will be Aurora Perrineau<\/strong> (Westworld<\/em>) as Chantal, Abigail Cowen<\/strong> (Fate: The Winx Saga<\/em>) as Delilah, Michael Bradway<\/strong> (Chicago Fire<\/em>) as Charlie and Joseph Chiu<\/strong> (Fear Street: Prom Queen<\/em>) as Jordie. Prime Video has not yet confirmed a release window for Every Year After<\/em>, though the streamer has confirmed it will debut the series in \u201cmore than 240 countries and territories around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who Is Author Carley Fortune?<\/h2>\n

Fortune started her writing career as a journalist for Canada\u2019s The Globe and Mail<\/em> and Toronto Life<\/em>, before releasing Every Summer After<\/em> as her debut novel in May 2022. (Her followup Meet Me at the Lake<\/em> has been optioned by Prince Harry<\/strong> and Meghan Markle<\/strong>\u2019s company Archewell for a potential movie adaptation<\/a>.)<\/p>\n
