When Us Weekly<\/em> suggested to Wilson Bethel<\/strong> that he would be a great fit for Ransom Canyon<\/em>, he revealed that he actually auditioned<\/a> for Netflix\u2019s hit cowboy show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI auditioned for Ransom Canyon. I read with Minka Kelly for that show,\u201d the Hart of Dixie<\/em> alum told Us Weekly<\/em> while promoting Untamed.<\/p>\n

Bethel, who previously worked with Kelly\u2019s Friday Night Lights<\/em> love interest Scott Porter<\/strong><\/a>, tried out for Eoin Macken<\/strong>\u2019s role as Davis Collins.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tried out for the other guy in the love triangle [with Minka and Josh Duhamel<\/strong>],\u201d Bethel said. \u201cLook, I never say never. I\u2019m psyched for them. That show obviously has been met with a lot of success and who knows what the future holds [about booking another role in season 2].\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNetflix\u2019s Ransom Canyon understood the assignment when building its cast of hot cowboys. The upcoming series, which premieres on April 17, is based on Jodi Thomas\u2018 book series of the same name about a Texas town full of drama, romance and apparently attractive men. From Josh Duhamel to James Brolin to Jack Schumacher to Garrett [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Based on Jodi Thomas<\/strong>\u2018 book series<\/a> of the same name, Ransom Canyon<\/em>, which premiered in April, introduced Us<\/em> to a town full of drama, romance and hope. The first season kicked off with stoic rancher Staten (Duhamel) grieving two major losses while navigating an undeniable connection to childhood friend Quinn (Kelly), who has also caught the eye of Staten\u2019s brother-in-law and rival Davis (Macken).<\/p>\n

Netflix recently renewed the show for a second season, which leaves the door open<\/a> for a possible cameo from Bethel in a different role. For now, however, Bethel is focused on his role in the Untamed<\/em> miniseries after it premiered on Thursday, July 17.<\/p>\n

Untamed is set in Yosemite National Park where a woman\u2019s death draws a federal agent into lawless terrain, where nature obeys no rules but its own. Bethel plays Shane, an introverted former army ranger and current park Wildlife Management Officer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I first started auditioning for the character, I didn\u2019t know the full extent of his motivations and what was guiding him,\u201d Bethel explained to Us<\/em>. \u201cIn that stage where I\u2019m initially putting together the character and figuring out who he is, I\u2019m making some educated guesses that weren\u2019t entirely accurate.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a way that feels like it\u2019s not cheaply [fleshed] out.\u201d<\/p>\n
