Dolores Catania<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about her weight loss journey.<\/p>\n Over the past few years, the 54-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey<\/strong><\/a><\/em> star has been very transparent about taking GLP-1 drugs to help lose weight<\/a>.<\/p>\n In an exclusive new interview with JustJared.com<\/strong>, Dolores<\/strong> addressed the stigmas around weight loss drugs and revealed how she deals with side effects from the medications.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u201cI feel like they\u2019re afraid of the backlash,\u201d Dolores<\/strong> said about why more celebrities don\u2019t publicly share that they\u2019re on weight loss drugs. \u201cBecause in taking GLP-1, you have your side effects, but it doesn\u2019t mean you don\u2019t have to still live a healthy lifestyle.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cYou still have to work out,\u201d she continued. \u201cI have a trainer. I work out three to four times a week. I hate it. I\u2019d rather drink poison, because I hate working out. People don\u2019t believe that. I have to be pushed to go.\u201d<\/p>\n Dolores<\/strong> added, \u201cSo when people say, \u2018Oh yeah, why don\u2019t you just go to the gym?\u2019 I work hard, and do try to watch what I eat. The thing with GLP-1s is, if you overeat in the beginning, you get very, very nauseous. Like extremely nauseous. You vomit. So you have to have something to help you with that. And that\u2019s why, I mean, that\u2019s like probably why you\u2019re not hearing about it because people aren\u2019t admitting it, but this is just, it\u2019s a fact of the GLP-1 life.\u201d<\/p>\n Also in our interview, Dolores<\/strong> talked about her new partnership with My Advanced Herbals\u00ae,<\/a> from the makers of Dramamine\u00ae, to help deal with GLP-1 side effects, including nausea and constipation. Dolores<\/strong> said that the ginger chews have been in a gamechanger in dealing with the side effects.<\/p>\n \u201cGLP-1 comes with some side effects [like] nausea, and that hit me in a really different way,\u201d Dolores<\/strong> admitted. \u201cLike I don\u2019t know that I would have stayed on it and finished the journey that I did to get to the weight I wanted if I did not have the the ginger chew.\u201d<\/p>\n She went on to say that when she first started her GLP-1 journey, doctors didn\u2019t give her any suggestions about how to handle the side effects.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s why I want everyone to know about this because the doctors suggested a medication for nausea, but it also constipates you,\u201d she explained. \u201cAlso with GLP-1s, there\u2019s a lot of protein, and carbs, which make you sick. Sugars make you sick. And make you nauseous. I don\u2019t want to say sick, but say nauseous.\u201d<\/p>\n So, one day Dolores<\/strong> did some shopping at CVS where she found Advanced Herbals\u00ae Ginger Chews<\/a>: \u201cI knew it wasn\u2019t like a medication. It\u2019s maintenance,\u201d Dolores<\/strong> explained. \u201cI like the way I feel. My blood work is really good. Paul [Connell]<\/strong><\/a>, my boyfriend, has gotten off blood pressure medication that he was on before because he\u2019s dropped so much weight.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cAnd it\u2019s really just, I\u2019d say maintenance levels for me now, but I still find bouts of nausea when I eat the wrong things on it because it\u2019s your body telling you you ate something that you shouldn\u2019t have.
