Actor Matthew Postlethwaite<\/strong> is recalling the scary moment when he was on a plane and the engine exploded.<\/span><\/p>\n

Postlethwaite, who appeared in the BBC crime series Peaky Blinders<\/a>,<\/i> shared his experience via Instagram Stories<\/a> on Monday, July 14, revealing that he was aboard an overnight flight from Los Angeles to Minneapolis where things took a terrifying turn.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTen minutes after takeoff, one of the plane\u2019s engines caught on fire and exploded,\u201d the 33-year-old wrote. \u201cI can only describe it as sounding like a bomb went off. I\u2019ve flown many times in my life and I can\u2019t ever recall being scared \u2014\u00a0let alone thinking I was going to die. It\u2019s interesting who you text when that happens. Dramatic, I know \u2014\u00a0 but very real.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Postlethwaite said that he and his wife, Erika Young<\/strong>, had been headed to the Twin Cities for a meeting with Target about his protein soda brand. The couple\u2019s Sun Country Airlines flight departed Los Angeles International Airport after midnight Monday, according to CBS News<\/span><\/a>. Following the engine incident, the crew declared an emergency and circled back to LAX for a safe landing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t understand how \u2018they\u2019 can let aircraft\u2019s fly that clearly aren\u2019t okay \u2014\u00a0I literally remember saying to Erika, \u2018It sounds like a lawn mower,\u2019\u201d Postlethwaite said in his Story. \u201cI will not be going on any planes that sound like lawn mowers again.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking to CBS, Minnesota resident Kang Hu<\/strong> recalled being on the flight <\/span>with his wife and two daughters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
