NBCUniversal is speaking out after former employees of The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em><\/a> alleged that the series has fostered a toxic work environment.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are committed to a safe and respectful work environment and take workplace complaints very seriously and to insinuate otherwise is untrue,\u201d a spokesperson for NBCU told Us Weekly<\/em> on Friday, May 12. \u201cWhen issues are reported they are promptly reviewed, investigated and acted upon as appropriate. The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em> strives to build a safe, respectful and equitable workplace that nurtures a culture of inclusivity and creativity<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n In a Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> expos\u00e9 published earlier on Friday, several previous staffers of the Kelly Clarkson<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s eponymous talk show claimed they were underpaid<\/a> and found the production to be \u201ctraumatizing to their mental health<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n One such employee \u2014 who remained anonymous \u2014 recounted crying on the roof of the stage, questioning, \u201c\u2019Oh my gosh, what am I doing? Why am I putting myself through this?\u2019\u201d Another person told the magazine that while Clarkson, 41, was \u201cfantastic\u201d on set, she was unaware of complaints from the show\u2019s workers.<\/p>\n The sources also stated that their concerns were largely ignored by the show\u2019s human resources department and that executive producer Alex Duda<\/strong> allegedly \u201cshields\u201d Clarkson from any behind-the-scenes drama.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Alex Duda\u2019s a monster,\u201d another employee told the outlet, claiming that Duda has also cursed at workers on stage. \u201cI have a friend who\u2019s an executive producer who warned me about taking this job because apparently she has done this on every show she\u2019s worked on.\u201d<\/p>\n Clarkson and Duda have not yet commented on the report.<\/p>\n The workplace claims come three days after NBCU announced the series would be moving from Los Angeles to New York City. The Grammy winner, for her part, is \u201creally excited for this next chapter and looking forward to a fresh start<\/a>,\u201d a source exclusively told Us<\/em> on Tuesday, May 9.<\/p>\n \u201cThis move won\u2019t have much of an impact on Kelly and Brandon [Blackstock]<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s coparenting relationship<\/a> since they already live in different states and she has primary custody,\u201d the insider added. Us<\/em> confirmed in June 2020 that the American Idol<\/em><\/a> alum had filed for divorce<\/a> from Blackstock, 46, after nearly seven years of marriage.<\/p>\n The \u201cSince You\u2019ve Been Gone\u201d singer was awarded primary custody<\/a> of their daughter River, 8, and son Remington, 7<\/a>, in November of that year. The music manager was granted monthly visiting rights.<\/p>\n According to the pair\u2019s March 2022 divorce settlement court documents<\/a>, obtained by Us<\/em>, Clarkson is required to pay her ex-husband $115,000 in monthly spousal support until 2024, in addition to paying him a one-time sum of $1.3 million.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, the Texas native opened up about how she has navigated her kids\u2019 emotions<\/a> regarding her and Blackstock\u2019s split. \u201cI think communicating with them and not treating them \u2014 not treating them like an adult, because they\u2019re not \u2014 but not treating them like a child,\u201d she said on a March episode of the \u201cAngie Martinez IRL\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cThey\u2019re not small feelings.
