Evan Rachel Wood<\/strong><\/a> shot down speculation of her return to the Practical Magic<\/em> universe.<\/a><\/p>\n

The actress, 37, posted a statement via her Instagram Stories<\/a> on Friday, July 11 clearing up any rumors surrounding her potential return for the sequel.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am getting asked about this a lot, so I\u2019ll just clear it up now,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI was not asked to come back and be in the #PracticalMagic sequel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wood said she was open to reprising her role as Kylie Owens, and reached out to express her interest.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tGetty Images Practical Magic 2 is in the works over 25 years after the original movie premiered \u2014 with Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock reprising their starring roles. Warner Bros. announced in June 2024 via TikTok that a follow-up to the original film, based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line,\u201d she continued. \u201cI was told they are recasting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters.\u201d<\/p>\n

The original Practical Magic<\/em>, released in 1998, featured Nicole Kidman<\/strong> and Sandra Bullock<\/strong> at the helm. Kidman portrayed Gillian \u201cGilly\u201d Owens, while Bullock played Sally Owens, sisters who were descendants from a long line of witches. Wood\u2019s character Kylie was Sally\u2019s eldest daughter.<\/p>\n

Despite plans to recast Wood\u2019s character, Kidman and Bullock are set to reprise their starring roles.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cYes, I will be in it,\u201d Kidman, 58, told People<\/em> in June 2024. \u201cAnd Sandy will be in it. And that\u2019s that. There\u2019s a lot more to tell which is why we go, \u2018OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a> on Friday, July 11, Diane Wiest<\/strong> and Stockard Channing<\/strong> will also return as Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny respectively. New cast members will include Joey King, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams,\u00a0 Xolo Maridue\u00f1a<\/strong>, and Solly McLeod.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The outlet reported King will play one of Sally\u2019s daughters, but it is unclear whether this is the same daughter Wood once portrayed.<\/p>\n
