Dolly Parton and her husband were ‘perfect’ together<\/p>\n
The 9 to 5 hitmaker lost her beloved husband of 58 years in March at the age of 82 and she’s reflected on how they were “so good for each other” even though they were such “different people”.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Khloe Kardashian on her Khloe in Wonder Land podcast, the 79-year-old country star said: “We were different people. He loved music, but he was a loner.<\/p>\n
“He did not want a bunch of people around him except me. Of course he had friends, but he was also the same way. He\u2019d rather be at the barn, be on the farm all day, and if he was gonna go sell a loader or buy a loader or have somebody come work on one of his trucks or tractors, he\u2019d have to let people in.<\/p>\n
“But I really think that there\u2019s just certain personalities that are great for each other. And we were together 61 years.<\/p>\n
\n“We were just so different, but we were so similar. We were perfect, as far as the temperature in the house. We didn\u2019t fight over that \u2018cause we both were comfortable at the same thing. Just so many things we were compatible about, and we just got along great.”<\/p>\n
\nDolly believes her and Carl’s respective Zodiac signs made them compatible.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “I don\u2019t know if any of you follow the signs, the Zodiac signs. I\u2019m Capricorn, and [he’s a] Cancer, and those are supposed to be compatible. But he was a homebody.”<\/p>\n
\nDespite her own fame, the Jolene singer noted her husband “never did an interview in his life” and never courted publicity.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “He\u2019d be out mowing the yard on the tractor, and the fans would come by to see our house, and they\u2019d say, \u2018Are you Dolly Parton\u2019s husband?\u2019 And he\u2019d say, \u2018Do I look like I\u2019d be Dolly Parton’s husband?\u2019 He\u2019d have on his old straw hat and his coat.<\/p>\n
\n“I didn\u2019t ever expose him to [fame] but he was very proud of me.”<\/p>\n
\nDolly and Carl never fought and were always happy in each other’s company, no matter what they were doing.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “We got along great because we didn\u2019t have nothing to fight over.<\/p>\n
\n “I have to be out in the public and I belong to the public, but I\u2019m such a private person. And my husband was as well.<\/p>\n
\n“That was the thing with us, we were so good for each other because he\u2019s a total loner.<\/p>\n
\n“But we could just be in the house all day and say two or three words \u2014 didn\u2019t matter. Or we could talk all afternoon and lay in bed, talk at night in the dark.”<\/p>\n
