Actor Derek Dixon<\/strong> broke his silence after accusing Tyler Perry<\/strong><\/a> of sexual assault and harassment in a $260 million lawsuit last month.<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t just let him get away with this,\u201d Dixon told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> on Thursday, July 10, in his first interview since the accusations went public. \u201cEveryone deserves to go to work and do their job without their boss trying to have sex with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dixon said his \u201cgoal\u201d with the suit is to \u201chelp ensure that the next generation of actors and creatives don\u2019t have to choose between their dreams and their dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed that Dixon filed a lawsuit against Perry<\/a>, 55, and Tyler Perry Studios in Los Angeles on June 13. The actor, who appeared on Perry\u2019s BET series The Oval<\/em> starting in 2021, is suing for quid pro quo sexual harassment, sexual battery, sexual assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and retaliation, among other accusations.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tActor Derek Dixon has found himself in a legal situation with Tyler Perry. In June 2025, Dixon filed a $260 million lawsuit against Perry and accused him of using his influence in the entertainment industry to create a \u201ccoercive, sexually exploitative dynamic\u201d while he was acting on The Oval and Ruthless. Dixon is suing the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Perry was quick to deny the accusations against him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam,\u201d Perry\u2019s attorney Matthew Boyd<\/strong> shared in a statement. \u201cBut Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dixon alleged that Perry groped him and snuck into his bed, among other claims. The actor also claimed that Perry has a pattern of this type of behavior with male employees.<\/p>\n

During Thursday\u2019s interview, Dixon said he met Perry in September 2019 while working in Atlanta. They allegedly exchanged phone numbers after Perry inquired if Dixon was an actor. Then, the opportunity for Dixon to audition for The Oval came about. The first alleged incident occurred in January 2022 when Dixon stayed in Perry\u2019s guest house.<\/p>\n

Perry allegedly \u201cclimbed into bed\u201d with Dixon and started \u201crubbing\u201d his leg.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhile Hollywood may appear to be all glitz and glam on the surface, the industry has seen its fair share of\u00a0scandals\u00a0through the years. The\u00a0New York Times\u00a0and the\u00a0New Yorker first published investigative pieces in 2017 that accused disgruntled movie producer Harvey Weinstein of decades of sexual assault and harassment. Soon after, Weinstein stood trial and was [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI immediately jumped out of the bed and said, \u2018I\u2019m not that sexual\u2019 and stood up until he left the room,\u201d Dixon told THR<\/em>. \u201cI thought that my reaction made it clear that night that I was not interested.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perry allegedly continued to text Dixon \u2014 but the messages remained unanswered.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to speak for him on how he identifies sexually,\u201d Dixon told THR<\/em> of his alleged experiences with Perry. \u201cRegardless of his sexual orientation or gender, he should not be speaking to any of his employees whether they be men or women, gay, straight or bisexual about their sexual preferences, how often they\u2019re having sex and physically assaulting them.\u201d<\/p>\n
