The Young and the Restless <\/a><\/i>fans<\/a> have something to swoon about because Christine \u201cCricket\u201d Blair and Danny Romalotti are finally getting engaged.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were super, super excited,\u201d Lauralee Bell<\/strong>, who plays Cricket, told People <\/i><\/a>in an interview published on Wednesday, July 9. \u201cIt\u2019s been 35 years in the making.\u201d<\/p>\n

Danny (Michael Damian<\/strong>) is due to pop the question to his onscreen partner during the Thursday, July 10, episode of the long-running soap opera.<\/p>\n

Cricket and Danny first connected<\/a> when a then-teenage Cricket had a crush on Danny. They started dating, eventually getting married in Hawaii in a 1990 episode. Their marriage, however, ended after Danny slept with a fan, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford<\/strong>), who gave birth to his son, Daniel. (Danny later learned that he is not Daniel\u2019s biological father.)<\/p>\n

Decades later, Cricket and Danny found their way back together in a story line that likely excites OG show fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were a part of that time for them, and now here we are coming back into their lives when maybe their kids are now moved out or at college or whatever,\u201d Bell, 56, told People<\/i>. \u201cWe\u2019re reminiscent of those fun days where we all feel like we\u2019re still young and we\u2019d give anything to go back to that time. So, we\u2019re just very grateful that that group has stuck with us and is going to be so excited.\u201d<\/p>\n

Damian, 63, also theorized how YATR <\/i>fans will react when they see Danny pop the question<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the nostalgia is really beautiful and that\u2019s what they\u2019re connecting to as well,\u201d Damian quipped of the viewers. \u201cI think that they\u2019re like, \u2018Oh, my God, finally.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

While both Damian and Bell teased that their characters\u2019 second wedding would be seen onscreen, they played coy about the details.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s fun because I can imagine that there will be six people there or maybe half the cast. I have no idea,\u201d she joked in Wednesday\u2019s profile. \u201cI would hope for the people who\u2019ve been waiting for the wedding that [Phyllis] will obviously be scheming something, but that nothing affects the actual \u2018I do.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Damian, however, speculates that \u201csomething is going to happen\u201d when Cricket and Danny make it back down the aisle.<\/p>\n
