I knew he was not well,\u201d Wander recently told <a href=\"https:\/\/radaronline.com\/p\/michael-madsen-finally-got-sober-before-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Radar Online<\/a>, adding: <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMichael was suffering from the effects of alcoholism. He had multiple stints in and out of rehab. He struggled to maintain his sobriety. He told me \u2018I\u2019m going to rehab,\u2019 and all this kind of stuff,\u201d the anonymous insider tells <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/entertainment\/14623037\/michael-madsen-death-rehab-losing-home-eviction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Sun<\/a><\/em>, adding:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe really opened up to me.
