And he\u2019s still in the hospital,\u201d <strong>NeNe<\/strong> shared. <\/p>\n<p><strong>NeNe<\/strong>\u2018s son, 25-year-old <strong>Brentt Leakes<\/strong>, originally suffered heart failure and a stroke in 2022 and has suffered with health issues since the event. In 2024, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.essence.com\/lifestyle\/brentt-leakes-reveals-he-had-heart-transplant-surgery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">received a heart transplant<\/a> which later had complications from his body beginning to reject it. <\/p>\n<p>Even though <strong>NeNe<\/strong> had to turn the opportunity down, she shared that she doesn\u2019t regret telling Peacock she couldn\u2019t accept a spot on the show. She said on the podcast, \u201cI kept thinking maybe <strong>Brentt<\/strong> would be much better [by June]. My fear was committing and then having to go back to them and say, \u2018I can\u2019t do it.\u2019 So that was never going to work. <strong>Brentt<\/strong> was very sick. It was no way I could have committed to it.
