Love Island USA<\/em><\/a>\u2018s Nic Vansteenberghe<\/strong> made a rare comment about Cierra Ortega<\/strong> after she was removed from the villa.<\/p>\n

During the Monday, July 7, episode of the hit Peacock series, Nic spoke to Ace Greene<\/strong> about his future with Olandria Carthen<\/strong> after previously being closed off with Cierra.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is bittersweet. I was kind of really excited to feel closed off with somebody,\u201d he admitted. \u201cIt took a lot for me to get to that point but it was just not meant to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nic and Cierra were one of the most established couples<\/a> in season 7. One week before the Love Island USA<\/em> finale, narrator Iain Stirling<\/strong> confirmed that Cierra \u201cleft the villa due to a personal situation\u201d and noted that Nic was \u201cofficially single.\u201d<\/p>\n

While speaking to the guys in the Sunday, July 6, episode, Nic said he was confused about what<\/a> would happen next for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t really know. I think now that my strongest connection has gone, I will figure it out from here,\u201d he explained. \u201cI was not expecting this.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a confessional, Nic elaborated on this state of mind. \u201cRight before Cierra had left, my mind was clear,\u201d he noted. \u201cI knew what the future would look like. And now I\u2019m lost.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cierra\u2019s exit came after a resurfaced post from her social media showed her using a racial slur. Following offscreen backlash, Cierra was removed from Fiji \u2014 similar to Yulissa Escobar<\/strong><\/a>, who was the first Islander removed from the villa earlier this season after clips of her using racial slurs on a podcast circulated online.<\/p>\n

Before Cierra left the villa, her social media handler and friend MJ Hedderman<\/strong> took \u201ca step back\u201d amid the drama.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cHi guys, I see your comments concerning someone I love and care about. I want to be clear that I do not condone racism, bigotry or hate in any way shape or form, nor was I aware of the recent screenshots until they were posted,\u201d read MJ\u2019s Instagram Story from Friday, July 4. \u201cI discovered it at the same time as all of you did.\u201d<\/p>\n

MJ continued: \u201cI cannot speak for anybody or make any statements besides my own, and decided to take a step back from running her account. I was asked by her family to turn off comments and refrain from speaking on her behalf. This situation has been really difficult, and I\u2019m still processing everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
