Michael Douglas<\/strong><\/a> could be done with acting after nearly 60 years in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

The Oscar winner, 80, said he has \u201cno real intentions\u201d of starring in another project \u2014 unless of course a script comes along that really appeals to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have not worked since 2022 purposefully because I realized I had to stop,\u201d said during a Sunday, July 6, press conference during the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic, per Variety<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had been working pretty hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set. I have no real intentions of going back. I say I\u2019m not retired because if something special came up, I\u2019d go back, but otherwise, no,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Wall Street<\/em> star said that he is content with his career and gave a sweet shout-out to his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones<\/strong><\/a>, 55.<\/p>\n

Douglas noted that there is \u201cone little independent movie\u201d he is \u201ctrying to get a good script out of,\u201d however, \u201cin the spirit of maintaining a good marriage,\u201d he is \u201chappy to play the wife\u201d to the Chicago<\/em> star going forward.<\/p>\n

Douglas and Zeta-Jones got married in 2000 and share two children: son Dylan<\/strong>, 24, and daughter Carys<\/strong>, 22. (Douglas is also dad to Cameron<\/strong>, 46, whom he shares with ex-wife Diandra Luker<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n

Douglas, the son of the legendary Kirk Douglas<\/strong> and actress Diana Dill<\/strong>, followed in his famous parents\u2019 footsteps by getting into acting in the late 1960s. His first breakout role was the CBS television play The Experiment<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCatherine Zeta-Jones may portray Morticia Addams on Wednesday, but to her family with husband Michael Douglas, she\u2019s just Mom (and \u201cZeze\u201d to her step-grandkids). The Chicago star shares son Dylan, born in 2000, and daughter Carys, born in 2003, with Douglas, whom Zeta-Jones wed the same year the couple welcomed their son. He also won the Oscar for Best Picture for producing 1975\u2019s One Flew Over the Cuckoo\u2019s Nest<\/em>.<\/p>\n
