JoJo Siwa<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about the drastic changes she\u2019s made over the past year in her career. <\/p>\n The 22-year-old entertainer is no stranger to making waves online, sparking conversation and controversy, but much of her past year wasn\u2019t necessarily decisions she was making on her own.<\/p>\n In an interview earlier this year, JoJo<\/strong> was asked about transitioning from her persona from when she was younger to the adult version of JoJo<\/strong>, and the controversary around her change. <\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n So the last year of my life is the only time when it was different. The last year from \u2018Karma\u2019 to about three months ago, really, that\u2019s the only time it\u2019s been different,\u201d she said on the We Need to Talk<\/em> podcast<\/a> in April. \u201cI\u2019ve, you know, listened to outside opinions and gone certain ways and done certain things that maybe I wouldn\u2019t have necessarily done, choices I wouldn\u2019t have necessarily made. But I did, and I trusted because I wanted to do essentially what my boss said.\u201d<\/p>\n JoJo<\/strong> went on to refer to moments that have gone viral, like her drinking from a bottle of alcohol on stage. <\/p>\n \u201cI had a bit of a breakdown and I cried, and I said, \u2018Why am i pretending that I\u2019m drinking alcohol and being crazy? I\u2019m a good girl.\u2019 I\u2019m saying I\u2019m drinking Fireball on stage, but it\u2019s apple juice,\u201d she shared. <\/p>\n JoJo <\/strong>said a lot of her decisions over the past year were \u201cguided, and it\u2019s been, honestly, I\u2019ll be honest. \u2018Karma\u2019 was me. I wanted to do that, I wanted to do that song, I wanted to do that dance, I wanted to do that makeup, I like that. Everything after the day \u2018Karma\u2019 was released, was not me.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s very tough, because I look back at my last year of my life, and I think, whoa, it could be so different. I could be in a way different place now,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut, if I was in a way different place now, I wouldn\u2019t be on [Celebrity] Big Brother<\/em>. I wouldn\u2019t have met my partner, you know what I mean? There\u2019s so many beautiful things in my life that they\u2019d be so different if I wouldn\u2019t have made changes. So, I\u2019m happy I did.\u201d<\/p>\n What lead to these changes? <\/p>\n \u201cI realized that I was in control for the first time again, but I was still acting as if I wasn\u2019t. It was interesting. I was kind of being guided everywhere and I just needed to stop, and I just needed to have a beat,\u201d JoJo said. \u201cThen this beautiful song fell into my lap that is a song saying exactly how I feel right now. As soon as I get out of the Big Brother<\/em> house, I literally have a day and then I go into rehearsals for the music video for that song, and it was very important to me that that was the message that I shared because it\u2019s for the first time, again, exactly how I feel.\u201d<\/p>\n That song is \u201cBulletproof<\/a>,\u201d which she released May 16th.<\/p>\n While on Celebrity Big Brother<\/em>, JoJo<\/strong> met her new partner Chris Hughes<\/strong><\/a>, and has since clarified her sexuality<\/a> after previously identifying as a lesbian. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
