The Valley<\/em><\/a>\u2018s Janet Caperna<\/strong> is speaking out after death threats from Bravo viewers caused her to lock her social media accounts \u2014 and leave the U.S.<\/p>\n

Janet, 35, spoke to the Daily Mail<\/em><\/a> on Thursday, July 3, about her decision to go to Switzerland with her husband, Jason Caperna<\/strong>, and their 18-month-old son, Cameron, as a result of the online abuse.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sick of threats and slurs being normalized because \u2018we signed up for this when we joined reality TV,\u2019\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cThat\u2019s sick and not normal and I\u2019m not ever going to pretend it\u2019s normal or acceptable to message strangers threats and slurs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Janet said she had to close her Instagram page after receiving an outpouring<\/a> of hate.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s sad to me that people go this far, it\u2019s definitely the worst part about this \u2018job,\u2019\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019m learning how to put boundaries on social media in place and learning as I go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her statement concluded, \u201cI support healthy dialogue around reality TV and think some of the best conversations about modern culture stem from shows like ours.\u201d<\/p>\n

Janet has faced backlash since she joined season 1 of The Valley<\/em> in 2024. After being accused of landing the show because she was a Vanderpump Rules<\/em> fan, Janet continued to weather public dislike about her feud with Kristen Doute<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The targeted negativity continued when The Valle<\/em>y returned<\/a> for season 2 in April. Janet initially remained silent but has since used her platform to call out the harassment on her \u201cThis Side of the Hill\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n

Janet\u2019s podcast cohost Jared Lipscomb<\/strong> referenced specific messages during the Wednesday, July 2, episode, saying, \u201cI\u2019m gonna read a couple, and they\u2019re really just not nice.\u201d<\/p>\n

One message that was read on the podcast said, \u201cI hope you die a slow and painful death, you are so ugly. Are you actually a man? You are evil and I wish death upon you, you piece of s***.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another Bravo viewer wrote, \u201cIt\u2019s a shame your son is still breathing you little [n-word] lover.\u201d<\/p>\n

Janet claimed that some trolls researched the names of her family members to mention them in their targeted messages.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t constructive criticism,\u201d she said on Wednesday. \u201cI understand that I put my life out there and I\u2019m gonna get comments, good and bad \u2014 this isn\u2019t that. It makes me wonder, how many people throughout my day am I interacting with that are like this behind closed doors?\u201d<\/p>\n
