As franchise host Jesse Palmer<\/strong><\/a> geared up for the return of Bachelor in Paradise<\/em><\/a> (with the help of bartender Wells Adams<\/strong> and \u201cParadise Relations\u201d Hannah Brown<\/strong>), Us Weekly<\/em> asked Jesse about the upcoming Golden Bachelor<\/em><\/a> star Mel Owens<\/strong><\/a> after he made waves for comments about \u201ccutting\u201d women over the age of 60<\/a> when he starts handing out roses.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve seen the headlines, obviously, because I\u2019m on social media. I have not heard the podcast,\u201d Jesse told Us<\/em> on Wednesday, July 2. \u201cWe haven\u2019t started filming Golden<\/em> yet, so I haven\u2019t spent a ton of time with Mel. The small amount of time I have spent with him, he seems like a good guy. But I know I\u2019m gonna get to spend a lot more time with him pretty soon. I\u2019m sure that\u2019s something we\u2019re going to talk about.\u201d<\/p>\n ABC announced Mel, 66, as the next senior lead in April. Season 1 of The Golden Bachelor<\/em> (starring Gerry Turner<\/strong>) and season 1 of The Golden Bachelorette<\/em> (starring Joan Vassos<\/strong>) both aired in the fall, meaning it\u2019s likely Mel\u2019s season is set to start shooting soon and will air later this year.<\/p>\n The network also recently renewed The Bachelor<\/em><\/a>, which typically premieres in January, for season 30.<\/p>\n
