The 44-year-old actress discussed the situation during an episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, in conversation with host Dax Shepard. <\/p>\n
Oilvia, who starred as financial reporter Sloan Sabbith in the Aaron Sorkin\u2013created series from 2012 to 2014, said tensions escalated during the second and third seasons, particularly as her character became romantically involved with Don Keefer, played by Thomas Sadoski, 48.<\/p>\n
The star claimed the director repeatedly pressured her to play the romantic arc from Sloan\u2019s perspective only. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe director kept trying to force me to carry that storyline only on my side,\u201d she said \u2013\u00a0adding: \u201cI\u2019m in the middle of working and I\u2019ve got this new Bloomberg machine, and I\u2019m so excited, and he\u2019s like, \u2018Can you look out at him and smile?\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018Why? She\u2019s busy doing this.\u2019 Or, \u2018Can you stop and snuggle up to him or flirt with him or can you give him a kiss?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nA particularly contentious moment occurred, Olivia said, when her character discovered Don had committed insider trading using confidential information she had shared. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI was like, \u2018Are you f****** kidding me? This is insane,\u2019\u201d she recalled. <\/p>\n
\nAccording to Oilvia, the director disagreed with her interpretation and insisted Sloan should find the situation \u201ckind of funny\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nThe conflict culminated in a standoff during filming. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere was one scene, and I was like, \u2018No. I\u2019m not doing (that),\u2019\u201d Olivia said \u2013\u00a0adding: \u201cAnd he said, \u2018Look, it\u2019s my job as a director to see all the different colours of the rainbow and you are looking at only one colour, and I don\u2019t think you realise how you\u2019re coming off.\u2019 <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I said, \u2018How am I coming off?\u2019 And he said, \u2018Really forceful and strong.\u2019 <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I said, \u2018Great. That\u2019s what I wanted.\u2019 And I walked away.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDespite intervention from a producer about the visible tension on set, Olivia said she stood her ground. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI just fought back so much,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m still happy about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nOlivia also alleged the same director later attempted to damage her professional reputation. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI was on the one-yard line for a movie role when I got a call from my manager, who said, \u2018Hey, you\u2019re gonna get the role. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut first, I guess there\u2019s another director who they know and he says that on The Newsroom, you were late all the time and really combative.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nOlivia denied the claims, saying she lived \u201cseven minutes\u201d from set and \u201cwas never late\u201d. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe just was trying to bash me,\u201d she said, adding: \u201cAnd I told my reps, \u2018Please tell the directors this.\u2019 And then I still got the role.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nOlivia also said the incident has remained with her, adding:. \u201cJust because of our conflicts of how we approached a role, he wanted to ruin my chances of getting anything else.\u201d<\/p>\n
