Kyle MacLachlan<\/a> had his reasons for turning down a chance to reprise his iconic role on Sex and the City<\/em> as Charlotte York\u2019s sexually challenged ex-husband, Trey MacDougal.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, I would love to come back and have fun,\u201d MacLachlan, 66, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> while attending a God\u2019s Love We Deliver meal prep event at God\u2019s Love We Deliver\u2019s New York City headquarters on Wednesday, June 25.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd what they suggested to me, I said, \u2018I think there should be more,\u2019\u201d he continued. \u201cSo I just said, \u2018I wonder, if the relationship that Charlotte and Trey had demands a little more than their first idea.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

While MacLachlan, who played opposite Kristin Davis<\/strong> as her character Charlotte\u2019s first husband, did not elaborate any further regarding what the Sex and the City<\/em> spinoff And Just Like That<\/em> writers had in mind for his character, he did give Us<\/em> some insight into where he believes Trey would be today.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019d be very interesting,\u201d he said. \u201cI had suggested that Trey has maybe moved to Napa and has a very successful winery and label there \u2014 you can see where I\u2019m going with this. But no, I actually haven\u2019t said anything yet. Regardless. The show\u2019s doing great. They\u2019re all lovely. And I adore them.\u201d<\/p>\n

HBO\u2019s iconic Sex and the City<\/em> debuted on June 6, 1998, chronicling the lives, trysts and relationships of friends Charlotte, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker<\/strong>), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall<\/strong>) and Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon<\/strong>) as they lived and loved in New York City. The show ran for six seasons before its series finale aired on February 22, 2004.<\/p>\n

After two subsequent Sex and the City<\/em> films, three of the four main characters returned for the current spinoff, And Just Like That<\/em>, in December 2021. While Samantha Jones is featured in the show via text messages and one brief onscreen cameo in season 2, Cattrall did not return to the screen amid her ongoing feud with costar Parker.<\/p>\n

The show did find a way to include Samantha Jones \u2014 who is now living in Paris, to explain Cattrall\u2019s absence from the series \u2014 in the most recent episode of And Just Like That<\/em>. On the Thursday, June 26, episode of the spinoff, Carrie reaches out to Samantha via text for intel from across the pond on her new grumpy downstairs neighbor \u2014 who just so happens to be a fellow writer \u2014Duncan Reeves (Jonathan Cake<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\u201cThey say he\u2019s a lot of fun. Why?\u201d Samantha writes back. When Carrie explains that \u201che\u2019s living under me,\u201d Samantha quickly replies, \u201cI wish he was under me.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Trey MacDougal will not be returning to our TV screen anytime soon, MacLachlan did give Us<\/em> some insight into his latest project.<\/p>\n
