Dolly Parton<\/strong><\/a> made fans do a double \u2014 and triple \u2014 take during the 2023 ACM Awards<\/a> as she continued to switch up her ensembles.<\/p>\n The \u201cJolene\u201d songstress, 77, who cohosted the event<\/a> on Thursday, May 11, with Garth Brooks<\/strong><\/a> arrived at the awards show looking glamorous from head to toe. She donned a Texas-approved silver jumpsuit<\/a> reminiscent of a cosmic cowgirl on the red carpet. The outfit came complete with glitter, sequins and silver fringe on both the top and pants.<\/p>\n Parton\u2019s bold and bright style \u2014 which almost always features sky-high hair, rhinestones and form-fitting outfits<\/a> \u2014 continued to be on display throughout the night.<\/p>\n The 9 to 5<\/em> star switched up her look throughout the show, including a new sassy ensemble for her live performance. Parton opted to debut the first single from her upcoming rock album at the Frisco, Texas, event.<\/p>\n Over the years, the Steel Magnolias<\/em> actress<\/a> has cemented herself as one of the biggest names in country music and her style has become just as memorable with her fans.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m impressed with anybody that\u2019s got a sense of glamour and style, but I say, first of all, it\u2019s about being comfortable in your own skin,\u201d Parton explained of her own inspiration during a May 2021 interview with WSJ Magazine<\/em><\/a>. \u201cMy own overexaggerated look came from a serious place I\u2019ve often spoken about: the town tramp in our little country hometown.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cCoat of Many Colors\u201d singer<\/a> recalled townies calling the woman \u201ctrash,\u201d but revealed that to her \u201cshe was absolutely beautiful.\u201d Parton especially remembered liking the woman\u2019s \u201ccolorful patchwork skirts and pretty blouses [that] showed a little cleavage.\u201d<\/p>\n The Tennessee native<\/a>\u2019s wardrobe choices stemmed from her hometown hero, who was also known for having \u201cnails and piled-up blond hair and red lipstick and high heels. She was the prettiest thing I\u2019d ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n Parton added: \u201cWhen everybody would say, \u2018Oh, she\u2019s just trash,\u2019 I\u2019d say, \u2018Well, trash is what I\u2019m going to grow up to be.\u2019 And I guess my look is glamorous trash!\u201d<\/p>\n In April 2022, the \u201cHere You Come Again\u201d songstress revealed on the \u201cWorkLife With Adam Grant<\/a>\u201d podcast that the worst advice she got during her early career was to \u201cchange\u201d her look and \u201cnot look so cheap.\u201d<\/p>\n The Grammy winner<\/a> explained: \u201cI wasn\u2019t a natural beauty and, so, I just like to look the way I look. I\u2019m so outgoing inside, in my personality, that I need the way I look to match all of that.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite the early criticism, Parton\u2019s choice to stay true to herself has made her even more of an icon in the music industry. So much so, that she announced in March that she is releasing a new book, Behind the Seams<\/em>, about her fashion journey.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is my hope that you will enjoy a look at my life in costume and hair and get to know some of the wonderful people that have helped shape my life and look,\u201d the Dollywood founder wrote via Instagram<\/a> at the time, noting the book comes out in October.<\/p>\n
