Nicole Curtis<\/strong><\/a> is back on HGTV<\/strong><\/a> starting TONIGHT (June 24)!<\/p>\n

The 48-year-old returns to host a new season of her show Rehab Addict<\/strong><\/em> after several years away from the show. <\/p>\n

In the show, Nicole<\/strong> will \u201ctraverse the country to restore neglected historic homes needing a major rescue\u201d in the four new episodes, including \u201cone of her biggest challenges yet \u2013 fighting to save two derelict properties that are 1,500 miles apart. In Wyoming, Nicole will take on an 1890s house subjected to a bad flip, and, in her hometown of Detroit, she\u2019ll purchase one of the dirtiest abandoned homes she\u2019s ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nicole <\/strong>recently opened up about her time away in a new interview, sharing what happened in her life over the past few years. <\/p>\n

\u201cI had a setback in my life that just rocked me to the core, and it was one of those moments where I thought, how do I get through this one?\u201d she told People<\/a><\/em> while not disclosing what happened. This prompted her to make a big decision on her priorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI prayed on it and it was just devastating for me. I had to make a decision right there and then like, \u2018Okay, we\u2019re going to let this affect us for a very long time, or we\u2019re going to pick it up and go,\u2019\u201d she continued. <\/p>\n

Nicole <\/strong>shared that on a whim in July 2022, she decided to travel to a Greek Island that night, but after boarding a flight to Paris, where she was going to spend a one-day layover shopping, she realized she forgot her wallet and only had less than $100 on her. <\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t realize until I was up in the air paying for my WiFi that I left my wallet behind,\u201d she said. \u201cI didn\u2019t have a credit card on me. I had $72 of change in dollar bills stashed in my bag. So I landed in Paris without a wallet. I thought, well, you know what? This is it. This is my test. I\u2019m going to figure it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

A friend was able to wire her some money, and after that, she ran around the Eiffel Tower, went on a bike ride and did things she wanted to do. However, she continued to make spur of the moment decisions!<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018Okay, what am I doing?\u2019 I went out that night, I bought a house online \u2019cause I was like, \u2018I\u2019m going to knock off all my wish lists tonight. We\u2019re doing it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

That house? The Wyoming property featured on the upcoming new season of Rehab Addict<\/em>!<\/p>\n

Nicole<\/strong>\u2018s luck didn\u2019t stop at forgetting her wallet \u2013 she also missed her connecting flight to Greece and had to make a decision, stay in Paris for a week or go back to the US. She ended up being able to get a flight to Salt Lake City, and drove the rest of the way to Wyoming to go check out the house she just bought.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis house needed me and I needed this house,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n
