J.K. Rowling<\/strong><\/a> had a sneak peek at the upcoming HBO Harry Potter<\/em> series, and she\u2019s letting fans know what she thinks about the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO Harry Potter<\/em> series and they are SO, So, SO GOOD!\u201d Rowling, 59, shared via X<\/a> on Saturday, June 21.<\/p>\n

During Warner Bros. Discovery presentation in April 2023, the network revealed they were moving forward with a TV reboot of the writer\u2019s iconic novels and subsequent films for their streaming service, Max, with a \u201cdecade-long series\u201d that will feature a whole new cast.<\/p>\n

\u201cMax\u2019s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I\u2019m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long form television series,\u201d Rowling, an executive producer on the project,\u201d said in a statement at the time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOver the course of 10 years, the stars of Harry Potter brought magic, mischief and more to millions of fans around the world. Based on the series of seven books by J.K. Rowling, stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint captured the hearts of viewers between 2001 and 2011 as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On Saturday, Rowling clarified via X that she is not a writer on the show, telling one fan that she has \u201cworked closely with the extremely talented writers\u201d on the series.<\/p>\n

Despite her success with the franchise, Rowling has found herself in hot water over the years due to her continued transphobic comments. Stars Daniel Radcliffe<\/strong>, Emma Watson<\/strong> and Rupert Grint<\/strong> \u2014 who portrayed Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively, in all eight Potter<\/em> films \u2014 have spoken out against her remarks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI firmly stand with the trans community,\u201d Grint said in a statement to Us Weekly<\/em> in June 2020. \u201cTrans women are women. Trans men are men. We should all be entitled to live with love and without judgment.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the series will feature a whole new cast, Rowling\u2019s stance on trans rights and trans athletes has already seemingly impacted the upcoming series after Paapa Essiedu<\/strong>, who will play Professor Severus Snap in the upcoming series, signed an open letter to the United Kingdom\u2019s entertainment industry in support of the trans community.<\/p>\n

The petition, signed by over 400 others including Eddie Redmayne<\/strong> and Katie Leung<\/strong>, urged the industry to publicly commit to protecting trans people after the U.K. Supreme Court ruled that trans women should not be recognized as women \u2014 a ruling Rowling openly supported and celebrated.<\/p>\n

The Harry Potter author, who has been criticized for her anti-trans comments over the years, shared an article via X on Wednesday, April 10, about \u201cmedical evidence for transitioning children.\u201d A fan replied to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rowling seemingly referred to the petition and those who signed it in a post shared via X, though she did not name Essiedu.<\/p>\n
