When catching up with Us Weekly at The Children\u2019s Heart Foundation\u2019s Congenital Heart Walk in Los Angeles on Sunday, July 28, the pair celebrated how far they\u2019ve come as a couple and family. \u201cI don\u2019t think [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Earlier this year, Wharton underwent a second ACL surgery after tearing the ligament while competing<\/a> on The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras<\/em>.<\/p>\n\u201cSURGERY TIME \ud83e\ude7a\ud83e\udd7cIt\u2019s time to finally fix this ACL. I pray this is my last procedure for my knee,\u201d Wharton wrote via Instagram alongside a photo of him in a hospital bed. \u201cThis will be my 3rd ACL so let\u2019s hope it can hold up for 10+ years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wharton explained that during a challenge against Josh Martinez<\/strong><\/a>, he injured his leg<\/a> while \u201csprinting in the sand\u201d and underwent his first surgery in September 2024.<\/p>\n\u201cThe sand already being an unstable surface sprinting in it just completely [ruptured] the ACL,\u201d he continued. \u201cThe first surgery that I had back in September was to remove the metal that was in my knee from a bone lengthening surgery I had done 9 years ago. The metal was ultimately in the way of where we wanna put the new ACL.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wharton added that the first procedure ended up helping with some \u201cstability,\u201d but the path toward a full recovery would take some time.<\/p>\n
