Will Forte<\/a> – Amy’s former co-star – explained: “There are so many things I look back now and I go \u2014 you think, ‘Oh, it’s all about getting a laugh.'”<\/p>\nAmy then said: “Agree. The part about getting older and being in comedy, is you have to figure out everything has an expiration date.”<\/p>\n
The actress subsequently acknowledged that she made lots of mistakes during her time on Saturday Night Live.<\/p>\n
\nAmy was reminded on her errors during the 50th anniversary episode of the TV show, which featured a “cancelled and tasteless jokes” segment.<\/p>\n
\nAmy said: “They had that segment, which was like, ‘Here’s all the ways we got things wrong.’ And they showed way inappropriate casting for people. We all played people that we should not have played.<\/p>\n
\n“I misappropriated. I appropriated. I didn’t know. I did know. It’s very real, and the best thing you can do is make repair, learn from your mistakes, do better \u2014 it’s all you can do.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Amy previously admitted that she struggles to be funny in a “dysfunctional” environment.<\/p>\n
\nThe actress has very fond memories of her time on Saturday Night Live and that’s created a blueprint for her entire career.<\/p>\n
\nAmy – who also starred in the hit TV sitcom Parks and Recreation – told The Independent: “You do not need to have a chaotic or dysfunctional work environment to be funny or to be creative.<\/p>\n
\n“I don\u2019t do great with people who want to fracture that feeling. <\/p>\n
\n“I either get really defensive or really protective – I\u2019ve got my stuff to work on. But I think once you prove that it works, it\u2019s pretty hard to go back. <\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019ve sometimes gone to other places and I\u2019m like, \u2018Babe, it does not have to be this way – I\u2019ve seen the other side, we don\u2019t need to kill each other to make great stuff.\u2019”<\/p>\n
